This is a difficult one.
I really like the 5320G. It's PP in a way that a lot of the newer products are NOT. Anti-bling, mega movement, discreet style, case and look.
The 5170p could have been the perfect watch but it's not. The diamonds have spoiled it actually.

If I had to have an evening dress watch which although sexy, was "blingingly" compromised then 5170p.
For everything else the 5320.

The 5320 will give you more lume to read the time in dim light situations, but the 5170 just looks so much nicer, even allowing for the diamond markers.
If they were too much, then what about the 5327G instead?

5170p, but that's on the assumption that the diamond markers are quite subtle. The blue dial looks beautiful.

no need for a chrono so I bought the 5320 as I need a PC....if I had to do a chrono still go back to 5170G...the P I think is priced well

5170 appears to be one of those watches where I'd overlook the diamonds it's so nice

If limited to these two, i have a weak spot for chronos so 5170P and the diamonds are actually quite subtle.

Between these two, 5170p without a doubt (the diamonds are not normally my cup of tea, but they're okay here). And the manual movement is spectacular.

(Pic taken at a Patek event, so it's not the best quality.)

Can't believe I'd choose a chronograph over a perpetual, but in this matchup the 5170 is the winner.

This one is a toss up. I really like them both. I love the look of the 5170P but don't need a chrono. I would love a PC and like the look of the 5320. The answer is to have one of each!

From an availability point of view, the 5320 is a new model and should be available in its current form for the next several years. The 5170P on the other hand I expect may have a shorter production life and therefore be harder to get in future years.

Is this a fair assumption? If so, I may grab the 5170 this year and defer the 5320 purchase to 2018 or 2019.

I will add a picture of the 5320g to keep things fair and balanced.

Now, with that pic posted, I would add that IMHO, the 5320g, while beautiful with so many nice characteristics, appears a little too contrived. I liked it more when I first saw it and tried it on, but I've since cooled to it. YMMV.

I would wait and maybe they will come out with a new 5170G, no diamonds, Breguet numbers and a tach.

G should be a finished run?

Maybe a P without diamonds but doubtful.

An "A" would be incredible and at the top of my list!

You mean another P or another G? Aren't all the 5170Gs discontinued at this point?

It is certainly possible that the 5170P will have a short production cycle. But but no one knows for sure. They may overproduce the 5170P as they did with the other metals. We can only wait and see what their production numbers are like.

As for the 5230G, I am sure they will produce other variations in dial color and then come out with the R and P versions in a few years.

I was the reverse. The blue dial 5327 almost went over the wire....but the imperfection of the 5320 kept gnawing away...I have since gone back 3 times to look at it....on the last occasion when I didn't ask to place the 5327 next to it I knew the 5320 had one!!! It's definately not perfect and a R will be gorgeous with that dial ....

I think the 5320 is more casual than a 5327 and I think the 5170P is becoming to dressy
