Legit check on 1601 from '75
Hey folks, thanks for having me. I'm new to collecting and would appreciate a second opinion on my second purchase online. I only got worried that something's off after I bought it but I'm still in the refund phase.
It's a 1601 from 1975. What got me worried a bit is that these Indexes mostly come together with the wide boy hands and no sigma dials. I found one other model that had the same indexes, same thin hands but still no sigma signs. The sigmas on mine are a bit far apart and the rolex logo is slightly off center. It looks pretty genuine on first glance but the combination which I never saw in another ad online and the few imperfections made me worried, but I'm also a bit paranoid :) So is it just the variety on dials or could I have a sloppy redial job here, or even a fake watch? Thanks for any input. |

In my opinion dial is ok, hands are replacements.

Thank you. That could indeed solve the mystery about the sticks/hands combination. The bracelet is def a replacement. Could've been the same job.

The coronet looks strange to me as does the O in OT , the O signifies white gold markers.

Got some missing lume pips. I don't love this dial.

These are prone to losing lume dots. Not a deal breaker, IMHO. I like this one, depending on the price.

Case/lugs looks fine. Dial also. Only the hand are incorrect replacement. I think wide-boy hand are quite rare, so hard to find.
If you ask me, 3.750 usd is not a bad retail price in this condition. |

I am in Europe, so it was 3.750 €. I think I paid too much for it considering it's condition. I guess as a beginner you do some mistakes. But at least it's a real watch. Thank you for all the information and your pics. I may post detail look next week.
