Thoughts on this WG 1803

Hi all! I am looking for thoughts on this WG 1803. Specifically, I'd like to hear whether you see anything irregular (i.e. is this thing all original) and whether it's been polished correctly (if at all - seller believes it's unpolished). Thanks in advance!

I think you've found a nice piece, hard to know if anything is all original at this age without original documentation. Bezel looks sharp, lugs look thick and sharp on the inside. The dial is without discoloration around the edges, and no stains that I can see. Plus it's non-lume which is rare. I bought one not too long ago, I would have looked at this one very closely if it had been available.

Are the Ref & Serial # readable ?

Chris

What year is the serial number because the dial and hand style are from the very late 60s into the 70s. If the serial number is pre-1968 or so then it has had service changes done to it and most likely a polish or two or three. Its very hard to believe that an 1803 hasnt been polished.

Is that a yellow-gold crown on a white-gold case? It has the two dots under the coronet, which indicates white gold, but it looks very yellow.

It also appears to have been polished - the characteristic peak between the crown and the bezel is gone.

Now you know more than the seller, who we'll assume is simply misinformed rather than dishonest.

The serial # puts it somewhere in 1967/68, which is a good thing based on your response. Sounds like the hands are probably original. Much appreciated.

The crown is WG. Looks yellow due to lighting. Thoughts on the sharpness of the case given the polish or two? Does it appear to be a good polish job?

Please teach me Zapokee-san. Can you post a picture illustrating the referred peak, please?

Take a look at this example which has a pretty fat case. You can see the polish line is outside of the bezel edge on the crown side.

The example that the OP is showing above, this same line is actually under the edge of the bezel.

It's your late father's DJ. It qualifies regardless of condition.

There's a bit of meat left between the crown and the bezel. It's a beautiful piece.
