Rolex Watchmaking School Now Accepting Applications

_n1.jpg

For their September 2024 school in Dallas.

The Rolex Watchmaking Training Center was created in 2023 to prepare and educate the next generation of Rolex-certified watchmakers, furthering our mission to create a stable and sustainable future for watchmaking in the United States.

Our innovative 18-month course includes robust technical training as well as a more conceptual education that serves our students both at and beyond the watchmaking bench. We prepare students for a successful and rewarding career far beyond their time at the RWTC itself, with professional mentorship and an emphasis on strong fundamentals.

Our Program Tuition-Free
To make RWTC an option for as many applicants as possible, our program is completely tuition-free for all students.

18 Months
In just a year and a half, students graduate as Rolex Certified Watchmakers, ready to begin a career at the bench.

Hands-On Learning
Students begin to work on watches immediately; our program is the only one in the United States to focus a full six months on Rolex watches.

And it's tuition-free I believe.

I read somewhere about the middle east hoarding watchmakers.

Great post ! Interesting that Rolex will train and this set of skills is definitely useful both as a Rolex watchmaker and in the private sector!

Yes.

the Rolex Watchmaking Training Center, located in Dallas, Texas, is honoring that legacy with a new 18-month educational program that trains students as Rolex Certified Watchmakers and helps them pursue careers working in Rolex’s service network across North America.

Be a part of the future of American watchmaking at the Rolex Watchmaking Training Center.

Website actually says tools included and $1800 pm allowance so must have changed.

I work at an AD, though I'd rather not mention which. While I don't necessarily plan on saying anything I shouldn't, I would prefer not to have to censor my opinions or experiences.

It is an improvement in several ways, but it also has some cons. I personally know two of the instructors at the new school, and I'm super happy for them both.

Is it necessary to meet a certain level of watchmaking experience prior to applying to the program based on your experience?

There’s also a program at a different school for military veterans called Veterans Watchmaker Initiative.

Free tuition and $1800/mo allowance.

What a dream for 12yrs-ago-me, living in Plano, googling “watchmaking schools in DFW”.

Very cool. I have a few much younger friends through my cycling. I will mention it to a few who are on that cusp of what they want to do.

Might have kept me out of law school.

If I thought I could handle 18 months of Dallas heat (grew up in Arlington) I might have applied to see if they take 56 year olds.

I wonder if this is a push hoping to get all ADs their own in-house watchmakers. Would kind of allow Rolex to close down the large service centers if watches could just be brought to any AD.

I think this was posted about before and makes sense.

I think this is going to vary greatly depending on experience and location. I would think 50k and up would be where it starts.

No idea how accurate this is but a point of reference for the US:

Rolex Watchmaking School Now Accepting Applications

I forwarded the school’s link to my daughter, because my oldest grandson will graduate HS next year, and he’s not exactly college material, but has always liked putting things together. Also, he loves watches. This would be a great idea for him. BTW, they live in suburban Dallas. Erica thought it was a great idea.

Most people a not suited to watchmaking.

I love my Rolex and am somewhat mechanical but know that I lack the patience and dexterity to be a competent watchmaker. Not to mention I would lack sufficient passion to do it.

After sniffing the new shipments got old, most here would not be happy
