Hi everyone!
The noob that I am has to make a final decision on his first Rolex watch! I've gone through many polls and stuff but still can't decide between the SubC date and the BLNR!
Having looked at the OP's stunning pics, now I'm a BLNR guy ... Problem is that I come up with equally stunning pics of the SubC and then ...

Nice review, I hope to add a GMTII BLNR to my collection in the near future.

Great review. It's between this and the Explorer 1 for me. Need to go to the AD and try both of them on several more times, as well as do some more research before I make my choice.

Very nice review, Bruce. That watch is a superb companion to your Datejust 116200.

I had the same dilemma choosing between the BLNR and Explorer II (216570). I finally went with the Explorer as I didn't care for the BLNR's PCLs ... ironically I wear the Explorer on an Isofrane strap, so the bracelet has been a non-issue.

In your case, perhaps it boils down to the following questions:

(1) do you want/need a date display (and cyclops)?

(2) would the second timezone function have any real benefit for you?

(3) do you prefer a watch that tells everyone it's a Rolex, or one that is more understated about that fact?

Go with your heart, and don't sweat it too much: you can't really go wrong with either model.

These are the questions that I've been debating and feel that I have my answers. I'm leaning heavily towards the Explorer, the only hang up right now is that I want/need to see the 39mm with large hands in person. I've tried on the 39mm with the short hands and loved the feel of it on the wrist.

Since I really did love the feel and look of the BLNR as well I'll pick that one up second, and it won't matter to me if it's used or new. At this point the only reason I'd get it instead of the Explorer is if I don't like the look of it with the larger hands.
