Thoughts on ceragold Planet Ocean?

I am thinking of ordering a new 42 mm Planet Ocean ceragold watch on a black leather strap. I have noticed I don’t see much on the internet on this particular model. It looks beautiful IMO and wondered if anyone had one, could they post pics as well as give me their opinion? I know you likely would not use this as a dive watch. It is more a piece of jewelry than a dive watch. I just don’t see much about it and wondered what people think in regard to it. Thanks.

I don't have one, but I have admired the Ceragold PO for a while. Good luck with your search.

That model basically has the older 42mm case design, and the 8501 movement. It's a stunning piece, but very thick and hefty. Almost 16mm thick, and in ceragold, the watch head is probably considerably heavier than steel. I am a little worried about the weight balance; the ceragold Planet Oceans come only on straps, so you don't get the weight of a gold bracelet to balance our the watch head mass. My advice would be to try it on before ordering, if that's at all possible, to make sure it doesn't feel like you're wearing a barbell on a strap.

Love it.

But a dive watch on leather? I can’t get on board with this.

Now do a runner strap with deployant, and I’m all over this thing!! Bb

Meh, watches exist for us to enjoy them. Many, if not most, dive watch owners don't take them in the water, so there's no downside to a leather strap. Plus, the gold case makes this look a lot more dressy, and the leather works with that, imo.

Diving or no diving, I wouldn't want a watch or a strap/band that I had to worry about getting wet.

Can’t disagree more.

Regardless of it goes diving. Likely, I’ll never take anything diving. A dive watch though, that can’t fall in the pool by mistake, in fear of ruining the strap is a non starter.

Not for me. Not ever.

But I am very happy for those that prefer it that way. For me it’s the ultimate oxymoron.
