Informative, well written review!
I'm curious, do you consider this to be exclusively a "sport" watch or an "all purpose" watch to also be worn on dressier occasions such as with a suit and tie. Normally, I would think that a timepiece with a green bezel would be only sport, but in the case of the Rolex LV, I wonder if it also "works" with more formal attire. What are your thoughts? Also, how much real difference does it make that the LV lacks the new hairspring and the new shock absorption system? Is the lack of these upgrades problematic? Beautiful watch. I love it! |

My feeling is that a ROlex is a high-end Swiss mechanical. As a result, its never really out of place in suit and tie, which I often wear.
I've had compliments on my LV when I wear a suit and tie, but not as many as I did when I was wearing the Z series Sea Dweller. Also, the GMT II in Pepsi version gets the most attention since the Pepsi is likely the most recognisable. Best, Chris |

I love how you can easily change from the green to the black bezel
the fat hands, the maxi dial... sorry about the quality of the picture.

I've got the "Y" serial LV (the first year) and I could swear that the green is a little more yellow (lighter) than subsequent years.
Parts do change. Just look at the first series LV dials they had an Oval "o" in Rolex on the dial.

Probably not. Too many of them out there. And in production too long. Who knows.

Great review. I sure love mine. It has run +1 seconds per day since I bought it. One note though. The bracelet is made of 316L stainless steel, not the 904L like the case. I believe the only 904L SS bracelet so far is the Sea Dweller Deep Sea.

I would have thought the bracelet was 904L as well, since it has that unique nickel coloured shine about it.

Highly sought after?
nobody knows. Some will say there are tooooooooo many of them out there, but letme tell you, the productions of 5513s, 5512s, 1680s, were much bigger than the LV..............and look at the demands.

I'm still new with vintage Rolex but aren't the red sub rare cause not only were they not in production long but with Rolex changing the dial from red submariner to white?. The LV looks killer too! are they going to stop making them?.

Most excellent review. It made me stop and admire my LV for several minutes. You hit the nail on the head about the sheen of the white gold hands. The museum analogy was right on.
