incoming DD36

had been curious for a long time about a full bracelet gold version watch. was equally nervous that it'd be too much bling. started with rose gold JLC reverso grande ultra thin on a strap...which helped me ease into the precious metal. fell in love with it. and was one of the watches that started my move away from 'big watches'...recently purged my collection of them, now toward more traditionally sized pieces.

so which brand/model made the most sense...not too much bling, 'small' enough to not attract too much attention, AND one that is iconic enough to last?

for me, it was clear that i had to go with the DD36.

considered champagne dial...but felt the need to break up the all-gold look with a lighter dial...so the silver made the most sense.
went back/forth with stick dial vs roman...and in the end, i liked the taller rigid dimension of sticks over the beveled edge of the romans.
went further back/forth with older stick (dotted lume) vs newer stick (embedded lume)...and again, the rigid edges of the older sticks gave more depth to the dial overall. plus the embedded lume just seemed a bit more sporty...which i wanted to avoid.
and lastly, the DD36 for me was the perfect size (vs 40 or 41)...and more aligned with the re-direction of my collection.

had seen these from a far, few times upclose but not really indepth, and never tried on wrist...so there was still a sense of unknown in making the purchase (which was done via online/tele).

once i opened the box, i knew instantly...WOW, i made the perfect choice.
and once on the wrist....HOLY CRAP, this really is nice...and now i truly understand all the comments made by so many other owners.
this truly is a piece. may not be mechanically as sophisticated as my other pieces...and i don't think that's where it's overall value really stands anyway...but it's heritage, style and visual presence just make it amazing.

and damn, full gold really have a good weight on the wrist...absolutely substantial, u truly feel where the money was spent! but not in a way, say, a hulking 42-44mm full gold bracelet watch might...which i'd imagine might feel like "HEY I'M HERE!!"

i'm thoroughly thrilled with the decision, and absolutely happy to be joining the DD club.

(shout out to jon @ sant blanc - a true gentleman and absolutely wonderful to have transacted with)

Congrats! That is a fine time piece. I will be adding one to my collection one day. My only dilemma is the silver dial like yours or champagne.

I just got myself a far lesser DD36.

Honestly a great choice.

36 still has the perfect proportions. DD40 is step in the right direction but still falls short of the 36 in person I've found.
