Incoming - Gift for a 10 year old moving abroad

My cousin who I grew up with is moving from the UK to Australia later this month to embark on a new adventure. They have a 10 year old son who is, understandably, a little apprehensive about the move. I wanted to get him a gift as a little memento from us, predictably had the idea of it being a watch... and then thought it would be super cool if he could keep track of UK time as well as his local time just to feel that connection to friends and family over here. He’s a pretty mature kid so I had no issues with more of a grown up watch.

Enter the Timex Q. Obviously couldn’t resist sneakily trying it on before I adjusted the bracelet to a smaller size.

Hopefully something he likes and who knows... maybe it will trigger an interest in this hobby we all love as a he gets a little older.

I like the look of those!

How does it feel on the wrist?

The first time I picked it up I was like: whoah this just feels super light. And I guess it is compared with the watches I wear most often (Explorer 1 / BB58).

After having it on the wrist for a couple of minutes though I felt just fine and it was actually quite nice having something so light on there.

I was a little worried about the bracelet pulling my arm hairs but had no such issue.

At £159 I think it’s a solid watch with some great charm.

Nice gift idea
Where in Aus are they heading to? Tough time to move here, with the borders closed and a mandatory two week quarantine for those who are allowed in.

They’re moving to a place just outside of Brisbane. Looks like a great place to grow up for the little one.

Luckily my cousin was working over there and has everything set up now. Came back this summer to take the family over there and is now kinda stuck. A couple of flights they were on got cancelled due to not enough passengers so are now on the standby list as well as having one booked for the end of the month.

Not ideal preparations but hopefully will all go smoothly after they finally get there... and then quarantine.

Hope it does all go smoothly for them - will certainly be a tad bit warmer up there in QLD
Their son will have the long Christmas/summer holiday to look forward to.
