I bought my wife an older Rolex... help...
So I found this watch at a store, where they didn't seem to know what they had. Does anybody know what era it is from?
Any answers or help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! |

Hi there.
It's looks like a way vintage ladies wrist watch to be worn with a silk strap that goes through the two loops at 12 and 6 o'clock. As for model type and so on, you might have to search around a bit, but I've definitely seen something similar in various books about historical wrist watches. Good luck, and welcome to TRF. |

Hi,
It is from the late 40's early 50's or there abouts. The strap/band to fit this watch are available from some vintage watch specialists and are like a twine/string with crimp type fixings at the lugs and leather stitched at both ends with the buckle one side like a standard leather strap/band. There are also bracelets to fit this type of case, but they are very few and far between. I hope this is of some help. |

Welcome to TRF!
Nice vintage ladies' Rolex. There was one like it posted here some days ago. I would say it is from the 1940ies, but a design like it was also availible in the 1930ies with lugs that could be easily opened for a quick strap exchange.

While I don't know the vintage of that watch, I like the plain and simple design. I hope that your wife enjoys it.
Here is a shot of my wife's Rolex that I gave her in 1968. Her watch had the simple black nylon type band which I replaced a few years later with this diamond band. She has worn it daily since 1968 and it has only been serviced twice. Nothing like a Rolex! Cheers, Bill P. |

She will enjoy it very much. It is all I've heard about since we picked it up yesterday evening. It just makes me happy to see her giddy like a schoolgirl, over something as simple as a watch (even if it is a Rolex). Pretty cool forum y'all have here. I'll have to spend some time here as well as at my home, http://forums.nicoclub.com |

Wow, it says a lot about quality that you have only had her watch serviced twice in 39 years. Also congrats on 39+ years of marriage.
It makes me happy that my wife is as giddy as a schoolgirl, over something as simple as a watch (even if iot is a Rolex). I'll have to spend some more time here, looking at some of the other threads. |

I'm thinking it's probably 1955 or so. Lovely watch.

Okay, I took it to the nearest Authorized Rolex dealer, and dropped it off for service. His books only go back 20-30 years, and he referred me to.... You!
It is a 9kt 17 Jewel 4211 model? F-2185 movement? |
