I think the Sub will look great on her.
Thats a smurf, a Sub, and Charlize with her Deepsea as usual.

Subs are such amazing versatile watches that may be the only watch someone needs.

I see the Submariner as the iconic 911, the date black might be the Carrera S and the Smurf the turbo, everyday super car.

The only minor issue I have with the smurf are the PCLs. Other than that, perfect!

A black sub will have to do for now, but one day I will get my smurf!

That's exactly my point! The iconic design with a little plus!

My only issue, and the only concern I have is one you already mentioned. I like to use the watch or at least have the capability to use it for what is is designed for. That is what a tool watch is and what makes Rolex so special - the ability to combine tool with luxury, usability with durability, comfort and presence. It balances all of those things so well. I would like to know that I CAN wear a Blue Sub while diving without worrying, not because of the waterproofness of course, its the same watch after all, but if white gold can hold up to 1. EVERYDAY wearability (can it be a daily wear?) 2. Tool watch - Can I wear it everywhere I wearthe SS sub? Can I dive with it, or is it purely a luxury watch? Will the WG hold up?

When it comes to the sports line I want to to be able to be used for intended purposes and this is the only thing that holds me back. I would really be interested in what the owners have to say on this beautiful piece.

OP your watch looks stunning!

I get your point and after 2 years of ownership using it a lot (not as a daily, but it got a lot of wrist time) I can assure you that you can use as it were made of steel.

The WG will hold up, you can dive with it and wear it everyday.

Having never seen it before in person, I of course was keen to see and handle it. The blue is.... very blue! I was concerned it would look cheap and plasticky, but I really like it. It's very different under various lighting conditions - pale blue in direct sunlight, and a darker royal blue under incandescent light.

I like the blue, but think black looks better. Heck, I think green looks better - but I really like the rarity of the blue. More than the bezel and dial color I REALLY like the color of the white gold. It has a soft warm hue - almost looks like a very pale yellow gold under certain lighting conditions. At a casual glance it looks like steel (which I like - the understatement), but side-by-side there's a big difference. And the weight/heft - love it. Not-to-mention that timeless Submariner style.

Best watch in the world? I'm not convinced. But I do like it - a lot. Probably the only thing I'd change on the watch (if I could design it from scratch) would be to change the polished center links to brushed. I don't like the shine very much, but it's a price I'm willing to pay for such a unique piece. (And no, I won't ask an AD to change the finish - doesn't feel quite right and would affect future resale if I go down that path).

Congratulations on your acquisition! I am sure you're going to enjoy it a lot!

So it's time for a little controversy. I decided to open this topic to share with you some reasons that lead me to find the Smurf the best watch in the world.

First, in my view, the submariner is Rolex's biggest classic. I know, I know, many will say it's the Daytona or the Day-Date or this or that. But in my opinion it's the Submariner, the watch used by James Bond. Also, in my experience, every time I mention the Rolex name in some casual conversation to someone not into watches is the image of the Submariner that comes to mind.

So, for the simple fact that, in my opinion, being the Submariner the classic Rolex watch, this makes it the most iconic watch in the world, or at least quite high at the top. It is the archetype of the watches.

It can be used for all activities, from the deepest dives to the black tie dinners. Just look at this ad:

So where does smurf come in at all?

In my opinion, the Smurf is the submariner for the WIS. The fact that it is in white gold and the blue dial and bezel adds a touch to the most iconic of the watches, turning it into a real piece of connoisseur.

The way i see it, is the most iconic watch in the world with a little twist, made specially for those who knows.

I know that many at this point should be cursing me on the grounds that a diving watch should be made of steel, but truth be told, who uses these watches nowadays as a real tool of work? And even if they did, the Smurf retains all the features of the Steel Submariner.

Also, wearing a PM Rolex gives you a special feeling, the WG has a warmer tone than steel and the heft makes you notice that the watch is there in your wrist all the time. Being in WG is a big plus for me, making it more discreet.

All the above added to the fact that it is an extremely wearable watch in everyday life, not drawing unwanted attention, make the Smurf, in my opinion, the best watch in the world.

Keep in mind that this is only my opinion.

I can tell it’s the best watch in the world but I can tell you that I consider Sub the most iconic Rolex too!

The bonus is most of the population will think it's fake too since they associate the Sub with the black model, so the WG Sub will likely draw less attention, which IMHO is a good thing.

I am coming up to a year (*EDIT:OMG ITS TWO YEARS!) on the wrist. I put it on first thing and take it off last before bed.

The smurf absolutely floors me when I look at it, and I look at it a lot. Everyday, all day.

Love this watch, but my first Rolex was a SS Sub which I never plan to part with... So, to avoid redundancy, prob a reference I'll always enjoy as a spectator and not an owner.

Anyone notice that the flat blue lapis-colored WG Sub face is sort of similar to a Stella dial? That's kind of cool.

I might be the odd one out, and its definitely not from dislike, quite the opposite, but I think the rest of the subs are too mainstream (if you can call a Rolex mainstream :D), including the Hulk.. Smurf gets my vote

I just added this one to my collection. I love the yg sub but I just felt it wa too flashy for a daily wearer. I love the standard sub but it is all over the place. This one is unique with the blue and flies just enough under the radar that I can enjoy it without worry. I hate to say it almost says Invicta from a distance, which is fine with me because I know I am packing solid gold.!!
