Or if your friend is a Rolex only guy, a day date would be a great add.

He needs to add some gold color, so maybe a DD...but if he's into getting a dress watch the ALS Zeitwerk is about as cool as it gets to me.

No disrespect intended, this is exactly what I was thinking.

I would start by adding a watch that isn’t a hype/hot watch.

However, if he actually likes all those watches and isn’t just buying them because they are “hot” I would recommend a Datejust or a WG DD.

Something a little different.

And people still think the Rolex shortage is a conspiracy. Look at how many people own multiples of some of the hardest to find models! Lol.

I’d be looking at JLC complications or Lange, if I was your friend. If I had that kind of money, historical and horological significance would matter to me. Again, that’s just me

Nice problem too have!
I'm trying to do old and new of same watch.
Have a Fat Lady and a BLNR
Have a 168000 Sub and waiting on a Hulk
Have a 66 Speedy and waiting on delivery of the 50th anniversary Speedy.

If he's not into vintage take a look at Glashutte Panograph and JLC Grande Memovox. Both stunning pieces and very reasonably priced relative to what you are getting.

Only other suggestion would be a 116508 Green Dial which would be in line with his all Hyped model collection.

Remove BLNR and BLRO
Add BLRO Meteorite Dial
Add a AP Royal Oak or PP Nautilus

The obvious themes set by this collection are - All Sports, All Steel and All Rolex.

Certainly all hot and desirable pieces but it clearly depends on what your friend is willing to change from that theme and still wear, unless he gets his head around that then we are all guessing.

If he wants to stay Rolex then as others have said, perhaps removing one of the steel GMTs and one of the steel subs and replacing with a TT or gold version would provide some difference while still retaining Rolex and sport.

A DD would be another obvious option to provide an alternative to steel and slightly dressier, likewise if he can adapt to the size then a PM skydweller on a leather strap would certainly add something different.

Outside of Rolex then a Calatrava is a beautiful dress watch, A Lange & Sohne are worth looking at. A personal favourite of mine I would encourage him to look at is the VC Cornes de vache which is an interesting mix of chronograph, historical look, leather strap and they come in Platinum, gold and just released steel.

Please post back what he goes for with real wrist pictures.

That's a hype collection made up in a year..
That collection has no Love...

Your friend needs to get a watch they Love rather than basing it on what others want..

Get rid of Pepsi GMT and add Meteorite GMT.
Get rid of Black Submariner and add SD43
Add Green YG Daytona or Platinum Daytona or both if you have the money
Add Rose Gold Sky Dweller with Rhodium Dial or SS Blue Dial or Both
Add TT Root Beer GMT
Add DD YG (has to be YG and President Bracelet - 36mm is ideal, but if you don't like small go for 40)
Add DJ41 Blue Diamond Dial
One Patick
One AP
One IWC
Omega Apollo 11 50th Anniversary

Every collection has to have a DD,DJ,Omega,PP,AP,IWC, and a couple more or less depending on individual taste. Several models of Rolex, One Omega, One PP is a must in my opinion. A Bregue, and VC won't hurt if you like their style. All except Rolex Sports, PP popular models, and Omega 50th can be bought second hand with some patience at lower prices.

Here you cover most Rolex Sports and Classic, SS,WG,YG,RG,TT,Platinum, some other brands other than Rolex.

This is just my taste and ideal collection that i'm working on for the next 7 to 10 years.

Says the guy that wanted a SS Batman, a SS SD43, a SS sub, a SS SkyD, but settled by way of a bundled AirKing with a TT CHNR while acknowledging that the HULK Pepsi and Daytona are unobtainable for him on the day of his purchase.

The negative responses from this thread are in stark contrast to the praises and positive feedback given to the few threads started by 2 or 3 other TRF members named are these 5 SS enough, or I blessed to have had....all of which are exclusively comprised of hard to get SS models, without any negative commentary.

I would go for something in PM. I agree a DD in YG would be great or AP RO PM. I would get rid of the 114060. Something on a strap from PP or Lange would be great, too.

Good luck to your friend!

To be honest though anyone having a collection like this within 12 months - it smells like he just got caught up in the hype to me. Its like a video I saw on YouTube of a so called "collector" - all he had was a bunch of hot models but actually doesn't love them or even know what movements they have or the history.

Is your friend on instagram? Trying to grow his social media profile?

I wouldn’t call it a “collection”. Seems more like a popular model Rolex buying spree ................. the “follower” ensemble.

I would keep what he has and add a WG or Platinum DD40. I like all of the metal being the same color.

New to the Process of collecting Rolex stainless steel

I must admit, this was a rather interesting post. I was truly surprised to see the number of disparaging remarks.

Subsequent to my 50th birthday, I decided to acquire a number of stainless steel Rolex models. I generally stuck to those models that new(er) and highly desirable. In fact, I have every single wristwatch seen on your post. Additionally, I have a stainless steel Sea Dweller 43 (Mk1), and a black ceramic Daytona in stainless steel.

Each of these watches is somewhat different. The Batman represents the very 1st usage of TWO colors on a ceramic bezel. The Hulk represents the very 1st use of a green dial on a submariner. The Pepsi on Jubilee, quite frankly is absolutely gorgeous and represents the very 1st use of the 3285 movement in a GMT watch. The SD43 is the 1st appearance of a cyclops on a sea dweller. Similarly, it includes the 3235 movement, for the very 1st time.

Arguably, the purchase of a Daytona is a “sell out”. However, it is also hard to argue the desirability of the watch.

I have been burned for several decades on the purchase of wrist watches. Short of purchasing a Nautilus, I think the purchase of a Patek Phillipe potentially represents a serious risk in value. Tying up $100,000 in a single wristwatch can be particularly tricky in a company that sells innumerable $100,000 wristwatches.

From the collection that you currently have, I would not “shed” any of the watches. Rolex fans we will certainly go “gaga” for a beautiful example of a vintage wristwatch. I for one would love to have a 1968 submariner 5513. However, the current market is infested with fakes, near fakes and Franken watches.

Stick to a collection for which you have all the documentation of the pedigree and it will serve you well through time.

Scott

Why so much hate.

I’d go for an AP, Patek or RM.
