Isn't asking "what did you pay for that" a bit tacky ?

I didn't buy one recently, but got flamed on one I traded for a 31mm.
Dealer said they sit around quite a while and from what I've noticed, he isn't wrong either. |

Thats exactly what the dealer said when he flamed me on the trade, and the problem is...the little old ladies that wear them can't read the dial either because of its size.
Having said that, they're a good first buy if you want to give your old lady a leg up on the first rung of the Rolex ladder. |

Those little old ladies probably bought (or received) those watches when they were young, back when ladies and their watches were somewhat more elegant than they are today. |

Chaps
I bought my wife a Rolex last year and the dealer had hell of a job to get her not to buy a 26mm one. She eventually bought a 31mm one but she took a bit of persuading. On this forum we seem to assume that everyone is buying bigger and bigger watches, but in the case of women, it ain't necessarily so. There are plenty of young women wearing 26mm and smaller watches. Really??? I hardly see 31mm anymore. Most women are wearing 36 dj and other women are wearing Daytona and Blnr and other 40 mm watches. |

Curious. Generally speaking, where does 'old' begin in terms of women's watch-size preferences? In an earlier thread, one female TRFers mentioned that the Rolex ladies 26mm is primarily a timepiece for the 40+ women's age group and that most under 40 prefer and opt for the larger case diameters.

I just bought my watch a 31mm DJ. The 26mm was much too small, and my wife has thin wrists.

Saw a business man in a suit in Italy wearing a 26mm very loose fitting. I thought he was crazy but it actually looked cool and suave!

My wife has a 26mm two tone DJ that hasn't seen the light for many years now. Just sits in the box. She sports a 34mm OP for a daily. We looked at a bunch of new models as we are looking to add a piece for her. I liked the 31mm on her, but she wants a 36mm 116233 with white diamond dial, fluted bezel on a jubilee. Kind of glad as if she tires of it, it would be easier to move.
I can't get much on her mint 26mm, been watching the market and they are selling low. Not sure what I will do with it.

Ann had her choice of anything in the boutique. Insisted on a TT DJ Jubille with white Roman dial ..... 26 mm. Could not get her to move up one size. Wears it everyday and loves that watch. Whatever make you happy. Seemed like a lot of $$ for a tiny watch.

My wife tried to like the 31mm on her small wrist but it looked too big, relative to her 26mm. She ended up with a 29mm Pearl Master, which was the Goldilocks size for her. She subsequently traded her 26mm for a newer 26mm and there is likely a 28mm in her future.

I was told the retail price for a TT 28mm w/ Jubilee bracelet, fluted bezel, MOP Dial w/ Diamond Markers is just over $13,000. Of course the price would be less with fewer additional features. That said, if the 26mm works for you, the AD's may be motivated to give you a deal. Happy Shopping! |
