Handle and judge after, I have and know which way I'd go. The new GS branded dials are phenomenal in person. So much stigma attached to the Mass produced Seiko name but they're A LOT of watch for the money.

I don't want a grand timex either, even if this timex would make a great watch

It doesn't have to say Rolex because I have and had watches that as good as nobody knows so it's not snobbery

Takes a big man to admit it, I still can't get over the issue ridiculously but I share your feelings. Shame as like you I know I'm wrong, very wrong.

I've been eyeing GS for several years and wanting to buy one because of the finishing and mechanics of it. Every time I handled one I've put it back down for two reasons, I can't bring myself forking over that kind of money for a watch with Seiko on the dial. As nice as they are I don't think they are at a level that commends that kind of money. Things may change in the future, look at Lexus many would choose them today over a MB. The biggest reason is I can't get over how thick they are. Like Omegas of today with all the advancements in manufacturing technologies today can't they make a watch with reasonable thickness?

GS watches are exceptionally well made. Personally I will say they are above Rolex in finishing quality

I own the watch in the OP, a GS SBGE001. I use GMT watches for business regularly and want to be able to rotate my GMTs as I would other watches when I'm not traveling. I got it pre-owned in like new condition for $4k. The finishing is top notch.

I own two Rolex watches, love em and plan to get more. But the case finishing on a GS is above Rolex. The indices have such a high mirror polish you can see the second hand reflected on the face of the indices as it passes over. The people that made Samurai swords 400 years ago, their descendants are making GS cases. Great bracelet, clasp, bezel is sapphire, I can track 3 TZs, the Spring Drive tech is 2+ a week, my Rolexes are 2+/day.
Now I might still get a GMT2 such as the BLNR. Why? Well something like a BLNR at 40mm will fit my wrist better than the GS 43.5mm, Rolex robustness, resale value, etc. But not consider a superb GS because of a logo? VW owns Porsche but I'd buy one if it had a VW logo. Most people have never even heard of Jaeger LeCoultre but Reverso is an iconic watch worth owning.
