Thanks for the link and for your (and everyones condolences)

Your question was a fair question that I did not take offence or upset at.

It is certainly an unhappy event when someone close dies but my Mum was rapidly declining with Alzheimer’s (amongst other ailments) and had had a long and happy life.

In the UK the elderly are in a 3 month lockdown.

Elderly people (like my 89 year old Dad) are really struggling with the worry and loneliness. I would urge anybody that knows anybody in this position to pick up the phone on a regular basis to help them get through this time and of course ensure somebody is leaving goods/prescriptions for them on a regular basis.

Airborne for close to 8h
Influenza,sneezing .6 meters
Covid 19,not sneezing .2 meters

Corona virus survives on surfaces for days ,also in faeces and urine .
Wash your hands often/hand sanitizer and what is not emphasized in the media enough ,DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE,NOSE,MOUTH AND EYES .

Point of interest ,measles can float around in air for 7 days ,BUT we have a vaccine ,so what .

Right on. Take the same precautions you'd take with seasonal flu was the recommendation. I believe it still is.

Can you elaborate? I just figured out you are in North Carolina which has 398 cases thus far. Do you guys have only one hospital in North Carolina where they jam-packed all the Covid-19 cases? Not understanding what you mean by you have never seen anything like this. What is so scary?

I’m retired in Minnesota. The protocols I described were laid out in Detroit today. Emailed to me by an ER doc at Wayne State University.

People currently presenting to the ER and verified, tested coronavirus case load are not equivalencies.

Those cases reported could have presented 5 days ago due to testing lag.

sure did, the one where he was sitting in front of a massive stack of ppe in the javitz center that was converted to be an overflow hospital, every day I watch him and I personally think he's doing a fantastic job (but again lets refrain from politics) and his tone for sure changed today, hes describing what they are projecting COULD happen, not what has happened

I live basically in "ground zero" and I have not seen these dire circumstances that people are saying is happening, not to say they won't, but to say that they are happening is a lie

I take all this very serous, but what is being implied on this thread as fact just isn't.

and if none of this gets out of hand (like 140K beds needed) and the doomsday predictions dont happen who is then considered the heros......

its time to take a break from this thread

What is so scary?

Have you seen here in Italy the military trucks carrying the dead bodies that could not contained in the morgue because there was simply no room anymore?

Have you seen the photos of the hospital in Madrid where people were treated on the ground because there were no available beds?

Here medics and paramedics are basically deciding who survives and who dies because it's simply not possible to treat everyone.

Yes, it's really like the flu, you're absolutely correct!

Coronavirus does survive for different periods -

Here is a study I read yesterday : https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.105...=featured_home

Aerosol and Surface Stability of SARS-CoV-2 as Compared with SARS-CoV-1

SARS-CoV-2 was more stable on plastic and stainless steel than on copper and cardboard, and viable virus was detected up to 72 hours after application to these surfaces.

On copper, no viable SARS-CoV-2 was measured after 4 hours and no viable SARS-CoV-1 was measured after 8 hours.

On cardboard, no viable SARS-CoV-2 was measured after 24 hours and no viable SARS-CoV-1 was measured after 8 hours.

In my opinion, when you state information publicly (and it isn’t supported with an accompanying citation to a study) then you should post the link publicly. Just my respectfully submitted 2¢

Article in the BBC attempting to illustrate the difficulty in calculating the true potential costs of this pandemic. I post it here not because it necessarily adds anything new to the debate, but because it neatly encapsulates just about every point of view on this thread, so there’s something for everyone.

Yes, I can see it's scary in Italy and Spain but Dawg2 is in North Carolina, USA and says it's scary there now. Just wondering what is so scary in North Carolina.

I see. You were describing the protocols. I thought you were describing your local situation. Saying mass casualty and wartime, I thought your area was overwhelmed. All's well in your neck of the woods, I assume?
