The amount of inventory they’ve sat on and hoarded is greater than the remaining demand. Most end consumers are not gray market purchasers, and folks that frequent Rolex forums are a niche in the market.

For the most part I agree. There was some decent advice in that video (buy what you love, it's not an investment, etc) but there was also a very large helping of circle jerky.

These mid-tier brands like Zenith seem impossible to sell at any meaningful price second hand.

It is unbelievably hard. I bought an IWC Portuguese WG and another IWC Diver back in mid 2000s.

I had to trade the IWC which I was into used @ 9.5 for a 5512 which was asking around 7.5.

I made it all back and then some selling the 5512 for 20K last year but still really turned me off from other brands.

I tried for a full year to sell that thing on Ebay. You would not believe the lowballs I got... really changed my perspective on other brands.

Although it’s a fantastic brand and watch.
It was closed at only 5,450$
I regret I didn’t bid
That was a great deal with so much value

With IWC it very much depends on the reference. Many are dogs but others have their fans.

Selling a classic titanium diver like the IWC Ocean 2000 or GST Aquatimer 2000 shouldn't be too difficult just like selling a Mark XII or XV isn't.

A few years ago I sold a titanium GST Chrono 3707 that I had bought preowned and came out slightly ahead after 5 years of ownership.

IWC, JLC, Blancpain, Breguet, Chopard, Zenith, GP, UN: all impossible to sell at a decent price.

People who advocate "Buy What You Love" probably never bought those brands at retail and tried to get rid of them later on

Two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth - we are now in a technical recession.

Literally no logic to those that say this is the bottom of the watch market, or that prices will hold. China won’t save this lol

Yep, I was gonna say that too. For sure they would. At least $500 split the diff. But you may be able to get it for $20k in 6 months

Why wait for 6 months... At the rate the doomers are claiming... It's going to be traded for canned tuna in 12 months

If it gets that bad you'll want to keep the tuna.

I think that would be the case if supply is much higher than demand but I don't see that happening for the Daytona ever

Back to where we were a year ago. I sold my not-a-panda for $31k late summer 2021.
