Alright you lot...what's going on????? What's this about Burlington Arcade???

Ok....I would still suggest we drink..eat...and drink more at the Churchill Arms...the pubs around green park and the Burlington are full off tourists and are c##p.....And I don't mean to insult tourists...just saying that they tend to be oriented towards them and that's not always a good thing!!

I think it may be a good idea to meet a little earlier...maybe 1pm??????

Perhaps Burlington could be later? It is a few stops away on the tube...or bus would be better...or cab if a few of us????? Green park is not far from kensington.....

Sp..maybe 1pm onwards meet..Churchill...2pm grab some lunch.....then later (before shops close) maybe those who want to can trundle down to the Arcade...and feeling merry...may shop

Let me know...I will be coming from Hertfordshire to meet you...my Dad is there...

oh...and this is a review of the Churchill Arms:

One of the great pubs in London and it's been consistently one of the greats for a long, long time. You get a good pint of Fullers, one of the best pints of Guinness around town, traditional food and one of the first (if not the first) pubs to serve Thai food. Eclectic decoration and winner of the 'Boozers on Bloom' award, a mixed clientele and a genial landlord go together to make one of the best pubs in London. And they keep winning awards, receiving Fuller's coveted Griffin Award for the third time and Stella's "Love Your Local" award. The only downside, if there is one, is that so many people have cottoned on to the Churchill, that it gets very crowded, especially if you want to eat

Not looking good people. My youngest son attends a theatre goup and he's playing one of the main characters in their production of the Wizard of Oz.
Guess which weekend the shows are on? Yep, Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd July.
He's actually only playing a Munchkin on Saturday evening as his understudy takes over that night but he's doing the Friday evening and Saturday matinee as the Tin Man.
I just mentioned the GTG to the wife and didn't get much response so unless she's a little more forthcoming it looks like i'll have to miss out. Bummer.
I'll keep you posted.

Martin mate that's a bummer BUT fully understand your predicament & I'd do the exact same thing......
(ie: throw a sicky & slip away while the wife watches the matinee!)

Marke it'd be great to meet you there & Dalip......??

I've booked to leave work early & I'll be there about 1....

If I'm there first I'm the good looking deaf guy in the corner with an ariel on his head & half a dozen coats reserving seats at the table!!

Man, I wish I was going to be in London THIS year. Alas, I'm going to be there (and in Kent, Sussex and Surrey) NEXT May/June!!!

You need to do Churchill's - if for nothing else but the Thai food (and the beer, of course). Excellent!!!

I a not sure if you can book for the Thai grub...I think you can...could someone give them a call and check it out? Dan?

We will need definite numbers also.....I know they get really busy in the Thai restaurant....so would be a good idea. Pehaps for 2pm or 230 pm....give us time for some beer before food?

sort of a good news for me dalip & guys...

I'm going to find out tomorrow if I can change our flight to Greece after the GTG weekend without having to fork out too much £££. (damn BA...)
There maybe a slight change of plan since we will be in Glasgow the weekend before for P!nk's stadium concert and if all works out well with BA, we thought we could kill two birds with one stone by joining a 3 day tour around north Scotland (so we won't have to make another trip out there). Which means we should be back in London by mid week, get some rest before flying out again and that should give me a chance to meet up with you guys on the weekend.... That would be awesome.

fingers crossed - will let you know soon.

My only worry is that it turns into a shopping adventure (especially after a couple of pints)

That is a concern

Plenty around kensington I think

But..I also have a feeling we'll enjoy the Churchill...and it may be hard to drag ourselves away...

OK....here's how it's looking for me...I am home from work for three weeks, after four away....time at home is obviously ultra valuable to me.....so, we are looking at combining the TRF get-together for me with a visit to Leggo Land in Windsor....essentially this means I am with my family for all but three or four hours of the trip when I would be with you guys.....even if the Leggo Land trip doesn't come off I have had the "rubber stamp on the pass-out" so I am cleared for take off.....but I have to say if I am down there solo I will have to bear a massive guilt trip because of the time away from home.....having said that it's actually only about 10 hours away from home all in if I use the train....lets see...I would love to say "yep, that's me I'm in 100%" but I can't yet...I would say I am around the 90% in mark.......don't be surprised to see that percentage start to increase....come on guys....encourage me....tell me it'll be ok....
