I'm not from Vancouver, but I usually visit once a year and I'll be back up in August. There's a few Vancouverites on here such as LaunchMini and DanP. Maybe there can be a get together when I'm up there.

I have also started a social group for people near vancouver. Would be great to have a get together around August.

^^^ I don't own a Rolex yet either, a GTG would be a good time to view all the models.

There is talk of a group buy. Maybe we could think about trying that and doing a GTG at the same time. How many people would be interested in a group buy from MonteCristo or something?

i think it would take us compiling a list of what to buy, then sending a negotiator in.

I started the recent Vancouver AD tour thread, so count me in on a meeting or group buy. My main residence is in Kelowna, but the wife and I own a condo in Yaletown (Richards & Nelson - The Gallery), so we are sort of "Vancouverites", too! We plan to be in Vancouver again on the August long weekend (probably the Friday before), so if there are any plans started at this time for a meeting, tour, or group buy, let me know. I could probably volunteer our meeting room on the ground floor as a rendezvous point.

I personally favour Montecristo downtown, as I find Harvey Soon, the manager, a very pleasant, laid back guy, who will deal. But there is no reason not to take a crack at Brinkhaus, or Palladio which are all close by. Montecristo and Palladio are locally owned, while Brinkhaus is chain store operation. A visit to the Montecristo Oakridge branch (they are open Sunday) is worth it just to take in the decor and the separate room with lots of Rolex inventory. Of course, these stores all have other brands (JLC, Patek Philippe, Omega, Vacheron Constantin, etc.,etc.) for comparison and interest.

I'm possibly in for the "group buy" as well. I've purchased from Palladio before, so I could negotiate with them if I had a list of watches/buyers. If we could get 5+ buyers then I'm sure we could get a better deal. Realistically, don't expect a 40% discount on Rolexes, but I'm pretty sure we'll get more than the average 23%.

Does Palladio sell Tudor?
I see Monte Cristo is the AD listed on Tudor site.

We seem to have a few interested parties in the group visit and buy. As mentioned in my post, I am good to go on the August 1st long weekend which includes July 29th until August 1st. Downtown could be done on Saturday July 30th (stores are not open on Sunday), and if we have enough steam left we could visit Montecristo Oakridge which is open Sunday. We need some one to organize the tour and if the August holiday works we don't have that much time to get it arranged.

I may be able to do the Saturday July 30. I would prefer later into August.

What about others, who else could make it on July 30? Lets get a total going here.

August long weekend would be good for me.
So who's in for a group buy?
If we can get a watch count and model types we can start the negotiations with our respective contacts. Maybe we can even pass this list along to kayaker21 (Canadian TRF seller)to see what he may be able to do for us.

salem65, a suggestion: maybe change the title of this thread to "Vancouver TRF'ers : Group Buy". That might get a few more locals interested. Also, we should come up with some sort of cut-off date.

I'll start the list. Others, just add to this:

1. Datejust Turn-O-Graph, white dial, jubilee bracelet

I would be in as an observer on the August 1st long weekend. I just purchased a Datejust II for the wife from Montecristo downtown on the July long weekend from Harvey Soon, the manager. My next Rolex will be a Day/Date 18K President. I am not ready yet, but I can dangle the carrot.

Agreed, we should get this moving so the ADs can be lined up and a meeting organized. A time and meeting place should be agreed on. I can volunteer the meeting room in our condo in Yaletown if this will help.

Are you able to edit the original thread that you started?

You might not be able, as TRF only gives a limited window of time to edit the original post.

Would it be worth it to start a new "Group Buy" thread, or just continue with this one?
