Hi From MidAtlantic
Hello everyone,
I am thinking of getting my first one, have a couple questions.. 1. Should I only buy it from an AD?, if so how can I find an AD that will bargain etc. I am located in bethesda MD. (outside of DC ) but have family in baltimore MD and central PA; so I can get it from almost anywhere in that area. 2. Insurance ... do you guys insures your watches... If its a 5.5k watch what will the insurance cost me. I plan on wearing it all the time. 3. Besides the rolex website if there any place where I can compare them to decide on which one I want to get. 4. Any suggestions for which one I shld get I want stainless steel and around 5.5k or less Thanks |

Welcome Jay
Everybody will suggest you buy the one they have, so we really aren't a lot of help there... You aren't going to get a lot of difference between AD's, but you can save on tax if you buy out of state and have it shipped to your home... You still have to go there as Rolex does not allow phone sales or internet sales... There is a quite reputable Grey Dealer in Rockville, MD. that several members here have had good results with. Alan Furman & Co. Rockville, MD You might google them as they have all the models. |

This is my fav for after a few years... http://www.alanfurman.com/noframes/ro118206ibrd.htm Also please advise on insurance for a Rolex. Thanks |

Welcome to TRF!
I for my part buy from AD's only! Depending on your negotiation skills you can often get a nice discount even from AD's. Good luck!

They will deal on most models, except for the hot sport models. Also, if you buy from Liljenquist, you can have it shipped to MD and save on the tax. I was in Liljenquist yesterday afternoon. They had a very good selection of models. And what they don't have I'm sure they can get fairly easily.

AF's site is a good barometer on prices I think. Remember, if business is Brick and Mortar their price will be more do to over head but, when they are both INTERNET & B/M then I would expect the price to be less on the INTERNET but close to what the in-store price is again over head. Internet companies who have no B/M will have lower BNIB prices but again, known as Gray dealers (where you have no where to bring the watch for a face to face). What you will find on used watches is pretty much what the market will support as far as the value Vs. fair market value. I believe the prices shown above are good representatives of the used market.
