Our Hawaii Vacation..........

It was a pretty good couple of weeks....

Arrived in Kauai: They put us ashore on the beach..

Every where I looked there was stuff to make me sneeze:

We were on the budget tour so we had to scour the beaches for our own food. I finally found something for a bit of soup: However, I had to give up on it as at about 300 pounds, it wouldn't fit in the pot... and there are some local laws about touching or harassing the local pets.

So... I tried some fishing. I had some good 20 pound test line from last years Alaska Adventure, but it wasn't good enough for this 1,200 pounder that got away..

And then there were a couple of 30 ton monsters that wouldn't even give me a nibble.... So, I guess that fish was off the menu.

So, that left me with scurrying about looking for some fruits or vegetables.......
The bananas didn't look too ripe... A tummy ache waiting to happen..

And the coconuts were much too high up... A certain task for somebody half my age:

So.... After a shower at one of the local public facilities...

We finally settled on the local Island fare:

It even came with entertainment of the highest Island Opera caliber.. (Hmmm.. should have cropped this one... I was trying to only get the little old lady in the shot.. she was singing along)

It was all over too fast.........Now it's back to yard work and forum surfing..

Great Pics. Who knew you had to forage for your own food. Surely you could have found a can of Spam somewhere.
Looks like a great place for a TRF field trip.

Larry,
Great pics. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride. The best thing about Hawaii is actually free [except the expense of getting there]. Whale watching !!!

If paradise does exist, it is the islands of Hawaii. Your shots are something you would see in National Geographic, very professional-captures the feel of the islands.
