I'd vote scam. Through the years we've received several of those "you've won XXXXXXX amount of money, call this number to claim it". You ALWAYS have to read the fine print. usually it will tell you that the drawing date isn't until the following week, and that your name is in the pot, or something to that effect. Don't fall for it, it's just a scam.

The obvious question you have to ask yourself is: "Why would someone who doesn't know you from Adam, offer to send you any money?"

I'd vote rip off.

New one we've been getting at work is an email saying that verifies our plane ticket purchase on our credit card.

American Airlines, British Airways, Qantas, etc

Looks very official, even gives you a pdf of said ticket with seat number etc and your name on the stub. Can even look at the seating plan.

Guess most people ring the number, hand over their credit information and are pleased to hear that the booking has been made by mistake.

Days later they get a call from their cc company saying that unusual spending has been taking place!!!!!! Doh!!!!!

Don't trust anyone or anything online. You only win something if you enter to win something. If something is dodgy regarding your bank or credit, talk to your bank or creditor.

Sorry, You misunderstood. I meant 'the thread is a joke'.

I would have thought that everyone on the planet had got one of these by now. I think I have put at least three in my junk mail box so far without ever reading them. I suggest you do the same.
In the zero % of snow balls chance in hell that it's legit you have 12 months to collect.

On a more serious note. How old are you mate.

total scam.

My dad got that. he phoned the 'company' in Spain. They wanted his bank account details to make payment. My dad tells them he does not have a bank account could they send him a cheque or even cash instead- haha- needless to say they never got back to him

Exactly, a classic example of "phishing".
