I try to stay fit by walking about eleven miles a week augmented by daily push-ups and sit-ups(no need to ever wind my GMT with that).

I would LOVE to be able to work legs, but a chronic knee problem has kept me from doing so for quite a while now. As soon as it recovers, I'll be right there doing leg presses.

Affirmative. I'm a fellow 40's guy, so it's kind of neat to see what's possible for us geezers.

I would suggest to get a TRX Suspension System for home.It will take what you are already doing to another level

x2

And here's a lovely shot of my living room ceiling complete with my TRX. I think it's lovely. I'm not sure what my wife thinks, but she said I can't add a pull-up bar. Oh well.

I haven't used this for awhile, but as a beginner it really helped me in prepping for the P90X routine. And if you have space issues or don't want to invest in a lot of equipment, this one strap may be the answer.

It's not like I'm going to hang you from it. Well, maybe not. It is pretty nice, though. Based on the angle you can make the workout easier or harder. My wife ended up using it a bit as well. You can work quite a bit - chest, biceps, legs, core.

As a friend of mine used to say...

"Rippedness is next to Godliness, but only with sufficient size!"

I'll stick keeping my fitness regime geared to performance and endurance but go for it, mate, good drills!

Nice to see a lot of fit TRFers. As my username states I am an avid runner. I currently avg. about 70 miles a week but I have been as high as 120 miles a week though it has been a while since I have been that high. I haven't been running competitively as much as I used to. I also lift 3 days a week and do push-ups everyday. I am currently up to 7 sets of 50 push-ups with a one minute rest in between each set. I am about to push it to 8 sets.

I lack all 4 as well. Unless by Mental you mean GOING MENTAL?

As soon as our little girl gets on a reasonable enough routine, I pray I can get back on mine.

Gary - that's awesome. You motivated me to the point that I skipped out of work and went home to work out (just got back to work). And 70 miles/week is crazy. I would have knee problems when I would get above 20 miles/week. Although I've found I can go pound the stairs outside and my knees are just fine. I think staying up on my toes during the stair routine works well for my old body.

Knee problems ..... cycling and stepper machine Both low impact.Careful of running !! Also see if the ski/cross trainer works for you.Low impact, but depending on the angle at which it works, can cause stress on the ligaments with an underlying injury.

I don't know the mechanics behind this, but if I run on a flat course my knee hurts. Perhaps because my gate is longer and I'm running quicker. I can run hills, however, and get a great intense cardio without having my knees hurt as much. Gotta baby it, though.

Swim. Lots of lengths, front crawl. That'll make you blow.

I am glad I could motivate you! I have been really lucky and have had very few running injuries over the years. Running is definitely not for everybody. Keep it up!
