Like me. I can't run for poop. It feels like it just beats me up so I've never stuck with it. I do love running wind sprints though.

Illegal for drugtesting.... will test positive.Of course will build muscle, but worth the risk ??? I dont think so !!

Be careful of "pro-hormone/testosterone boosters".

Worldwide the whole supplement market are very poorly regulated. Its a mega$$$ industry and the competion between the companies are severe.Consider carefully what you use for gym purposes.Gym(cardio and resistance training) are meant to be healthy activities.

Locally, rugby coaches are suggesting all types of crap to teenagers for "increased performance". Absolutely crazy !!

Nice. Yoga is awesome. Whenever I think I'm in great shape I try yoga and get humble again.

Great advice! Vitamins/supplements/herbals here in the states are essentially unregulated by the FDA and recalls usually only issued after a few serious adverse events are documented. With regard to the over-the-counter market, use at your own risk, so be very careful and check those active ingredients closely.

A great thread, I am well over my ideal weight, I have spurts of enthusiasm and then get have a lapse. I am restarting my fitness, by heading to the gym now. I feel alert and alive when i am on op if my fitness and the trousers fit easier. Since last year I have lost over 28 pounds, but have put back on 8 pounds. Smaller then I was, but still need to keep pushing on.

Fatburners .... Prolonged continueous use leads to suboptimal Thyroid function. My wife has seen this a few times in her practice.if used, use for a few days and sto for a few days.only for a few weeks.Pre-competition I used it for two weeks only.I don't use it now.

They couldn't supply me with the product (which they had for sale on their website), and as soon as they informed me what it was about I didn't want it anyway.
The one thing I have at the moment that worries me a little is OxyElitePro. I'm taking it off and on but still need to be careful.

I started running again about a month ago after 7 years break (lost my motivation during my military service in 2004). Started slow with 5 km (around 3 miles) runs at 5:30 - 6:00 minutes per km. Now I've doubled the distance and seem to be going ok at the same pace. I'm trying to achieve 2 hours on a half marathon this autumn.

It really makes me feel great to run, and starting slow and building my stamina bit by bit helps maintain the motivation without the urge to stop and vomit :) I also recommend On Running Cloudsurfers, the best shoe I've tried for a guy with a lighter frame.

E: Oh, and my training schedule. I try to run 3 miles / day 3 times a week, and a 6-7 mile stretch on weekend. When I'm feeling easier with this, I have to try with the full 12 miles :)

I found it to be quite mild.Should be OK.Not too fond of their Jack 3D ...too much stimulatory effect. As a pre-workout Purus Labs Muscle Marinade is my choice. For the short periods I do use fatburners I prefer USN Phedracut.2 weeks max.

Awesome Jede. You are definitely training really smart and I am sure you will be able to run a 2 hour half. Nice to see another runner.

I have been into working out since I was a kid.

I boxed as an amatuer since I was 11 years old and was an open class boy until I packed it in. I really missed the buzz and the kept ticking over in the gym and running. I needed a new challenge and entered the London Marathon in 1995. I ended up completing 6 Londons and a few 1/2 marathons (I loved running but still could fill the gap boxing had left)

2 years ago I ended up in hospital with a slipped disc which had too be operated on and was told to forget about running and gym work I was not going to be told to stop doing something that was part of my life so after a week in hospital back home I was on the step machine wrapped in a sauna suit with the fight back in me I comtemplated a return to the thing I loved but was still troubled by a back ache.

Last year I got my mileage up to 30/40 miles a week and felt good.

Now most days I have a small run and workout on the bags in my garage

Great to hear everyones stories. Keep it up guys

I flip/flop between lifting and running.

After med school, I gained about 15lbs above my usual weight of 160. Since I tipped 175 at 5'8", I decided I needed to quit lifting and try running. I ran about 1 mile every other day then progressed to 2 then to 3. After 4 months and a slight change to my diet (no pop), I hit 158lbs.

Then I started to lift weight again and have gone back to lifting heavy. Now I'm in low 160s... which is probably pretty healthy for me. I probably would need to run again for a couple of months to lean up but I need some more bulking to do.

I lift atleast 3 days a week... I really try for 4-5. I really focus on large muscle groups: chest then back then shoulders w/ arms. I used to do the whole chest/biceps then back/triceps then legs before when I was in college - but I would be in the gym for hours.

Now, I've trimmed down my workout so I can be in/out within 30-40 minutes and the results are nearly as good.

If you see me, I don't look like a bodybuilder nor am I trying to be - but you'll know that I work out alot.

My most important tip to anyone getting into fitness: Consistency is key.

First photo is from 2002. I was in modeling business then and tried to look muscular but not too bulky.
And training was like this: six days in a row hard gym workouts, seventh day was for running (I was pretty good back then, even participate and finished half-marathon, 21km) and eight day was for rest.

Second and third are from 2008. I was in great shape then, pretty cut and all.

Fourth picture is from summer of 2010., I was in o.k. shape, but it`s obvious that I started to gain some mass (on purpose)...
Now (I`m almost 32 years old) I`m still in very good shape, much better than in 2010., bulkier though, and training is slightly different. Three days in a row hard gym workout (harder than ever, I admit) and fourth day is for rest.

I don`t know...it`s something that is part of my life since I was fourteen and I don`t think that I could live without my everyday routine, which means WORKOUT!

Keep it up. If it helps - tell us what your workout plan is for each day. That way, you have to follow-up and let us know that you did it.

I get most free from my wife. She sells the Solal range in her practice. So I dont really know, but a quick consultation with her gives an estimated amount, converted to $s, of around $300/month.It could be less in the States.

German Volume training (Many other names for it too)

Principle : Volume overload of the muscle.

10 sets of 10 reps with a weight that 60% of your one rep max.Eg.Chest ,do a multijointed exercise, only one !! eg. Bench press or D/B flat presses.60s resting ,between sets.

Suggestion is day 1 ; Chest and back Day 2; Shoulders and arms and day 3 legs/abs.

Do for 6 weeks.

Apparantly results are very impressive.
