This is a cool thread. It’s easy to hide watches from my wife but I can’t hide all the shoes. Lol. I’m almost as addicted to shoes as I am watches so this is becoming a problem. lol

It's all good. This is what you'd call self-enabling.

You will not notice the 3 piece at all. They are far enough on the sides.

Finally got around to C&J.

Was deciding between the jodhpur and the Chelsea.

Went with the Chelsea.

Sprayed them down with suede spray when I got home. Feel great.

How many of you are into shoes... (Dress Shoes)?

Cool, I really like my split toes and find them extremely useful. I not only have a few split toe shoes but a few boots as well. A couple in Kudu actually and the aprons are handsewn which is rather cool I think.

I don't get much use out of my black cap toe oxfords either but they are there when I need them. For me it would have been kind of odd to have so many fairly nice shoes and boots and then not have a black cap toe oxford when I could use one.
Well, the newest Cleverleys are nearly here. Just got the DHL notice...

Here is a photo from the maker.

Many, many congratulations, they look absolutely superb, they are very different from your first pair but complement them perfectly. They ooze style.

Really looking forward to hearing your impressions and seeing more photos when they arrive.

Gotta Luv those emails. Especially those that notify you that your long awaited custom item is on it's way.

Thanks guys.

Yes Dan. I was fortunate that I was able to email the actual artisan working on my shoes...and had an idea when they might be done. I factored in some additional time for them to make the lasted shoe trees. Surely they don't take as long as actual lasts, but they're supposed to be unique to the shoes of course.

First time with trying pigskin. I wanted some new black shoes, but per our other discussion, I did not feel cap toe oxfords would get much wear. These will be more versatile.

Great choice, and for a more casual shoe such as the Split Toe pigskin should work real well. In fact the two I have one of which in Kudu and the other in scotch grain the extra textured leather is just perfect if you ask me.

Ah, so did the custom trees really add that much more time? If so still worth the wait if you ask me.

Not much more time. What with COVID, I believe the craftsman who finished off the bottoms also did the shoe trees.

I would not mind eventually trying Gator in a loafer...but that would mean having to have a casual last built, and I would definitely want fittings. Risking a spendy skin like Gator on my first bespoke loafers might be a bit risky.

Thing is I'm a BIG Believer in Semi or Custom shoes using the same last or at least "Semi lasted" trees. Really don't want a generic tree stretching my more expensive shoes or boots in the wrong direction.

As far as I am concerned Loafers really need to fit well to begin with. Unfortunately I have two feet that don't cooperate very well when it comes to wearing loafers and I generally steer clear of them. Personally I've seen few Gator shoes or boots that made me think I just got to get those. Came close on a pair of John Lobb's Jodhpurs that had a croc strap and gave it a touch of class but I went with a pair of Saint Crispin's in Cordovan instead.

Agree. All my bespoke Cleverleys have custom trees.

It would have to be the right Gator skin...many look a bit too flash.

I actually have a wallet in gator and have considered a belt but belts can be a bit much. For me it would also have to be the right style of shoe or boot. I've seen some styles that just look better than others.

Nice choice. I am thinking about a pair of those even though I already have a pair of Tetbury in the brown suede.

Well, a couple more shots...

Had a quick try on. They fit quite nicely of course, but they need the requisite gradual break in period. Wont be going to the office for a while so the process may go on for a bit.

First pair with black bottoms and heels. Definitely works. Nice fiddle-back waist detail as well.

Nice shoe collection! I have many of the same but I'm too lazy to take pics right now.

The dress shoes I wear regularly are Magnanni, Ferragamo, Allen Edmonds, Bally, and Prada. For more casual, I like Bed Stu, John Varvatos, Frye...Don't even get me started on my boots and "dress sneakers" lol

Alden Cordavan

I could see how shoe affection could be easily acquired however I only have these and still never had them on except one day in the house and stiff as hell. I did get the matching belt and do wear that..

Those are cordovan, right?

Double leather souls can take some work but it is worth it.

If they don’t work out, just bolt some SPDs to the bottom and you have your ”formal” cycling shoes that are every bit as stiff as carbon.

Is that Horween Shell Cordovan in Whiskey? Isn't that a pretty rare color?
