TV Trends & Kids
Recently whenever I visit my 7yr old nephew, I keep having conversations about the biggest YouTube star, requests for permission to download the newest online video game, or worse... being told "I'm practicing because mommy is letting me have a YouTube channel!"
As ridiculous as this may sound, this is now a societal norm in which I can easily name off a handful of multi-million view channels that have kids playing with dolls or stuffed animals (scratch that... seen adults do it too) and it's as if even playing with dolls with neighborhood kids is now replaced with YT and a monitor. My solution: I'm taking him to a Cub Scouts open house this weekend and a local car show so we can find a rusty roller to start slowly building together. Goal is that once he is 16, he will have his own self-restored muscle car, he will have gained a ton of outdoor hobbies, and be in the road to Eagle Scout. How are you all handling the uptrend of YouTube? Or perhaps your kids are one of the lucky few not zombies yet? |
