I’m confused, jP. Is a 5513 not a classic? Help a brother out!*

I guess I’d forgotten those were 20+ years old at this point. The dial and hands look awesome. Very clean case too. I’d have a hard time choosing whether to wear that or a 500 on any given day.

Thanks for sharing.

Have you read the posts from me and a few others in this thread regarding what is a classic? The "classics" are the later tritium models that don't quite fit the accepted definitions of vintage. Now that you know, post some classics.

The Sub of yours is a nice "vintage" example - at least that's what most consider it.

Here's a classic I recently sold.

Thanks this was worn for first time a few weeks ago and was NOS. My white one posted earlier pretty much same!

By the way as owner of both 500’s they are super and favorite moderns for me but 16520’s they will never be!

Aaaaah now I get it. Missed the nomenclature

Yeah, I “only” have “vintage”

Good grief.
Springer, I think you’re gonna need to explain again what a classic is every day now.

Better be very, very careful, though. I had some idiot screaming "thread police" at me just because I politely mentioned that he'd posted a bunch of old non-Rolex watches in my vintage... err... Rolex thread. Got all bent out of shape and threw his toys out of the pram. And got his pants in a wad. Then he did it again in another thread. Watch out: "THREAD POLICE!"

It's hard to tell from your photo. Plus I always understood that Luminova didn't patina, only those dials with Tritium. Unless your dial is tritium but doesn't have the T<25 dial.

Kind of curious about my own '99 A-serial

Very nice. Almost a twin to my Submariner 16610 found in my first post in this thread.

Probably not, but we'll know in another 10-20 years. My guess is the lume won't ever patina, but the dial itself might start to go matte at some point. Who knows? (I have the same 16700 A-serial.)

Sounds like a reasonable guess
