Hey all, back after a while away, but recently back in the Rolex fraternity (last Thursday) with the above, and really happy.
Now I know this model is rated at 100M waterproof, but has anyone actually had a go at pressure testing to see what actual depth these twin lock crowns fail at?
I'm just curious to see how far they go, I don't intend to dive any deeper than a swimming pool or maybe a bit of snorkelling with it, if I did, I'd have my seamaster 300m on

Welcome back to the club! I love the modern black dial variant.

I've snorkeled with my 5 digit polar on with no issues. I know they are tested beyond 100m, though I don't know specifics.

Thanks my friend, yeah, glad to be back, I know Rolex do their due diligence and they are 100% tested to 100M, but just wondered if they (in theory) could go deeper, wondered if someone had done a pressure test further

Hi OP, funny, I just read about this the other day. I have an official Rolex Sales Catalogue, printed 09/2019 ... in a section titled "Waterproofness" it says "watches guaranteed to a depth of 100m-300ft are tested at a water pressure equivalent to their rated depth plus 10%, while divers' watches waterproof to 300, 1220, 3900m are tested with an additional safety margin of 25%, according to the standard in effect for this type of watch".

So according to Rolex, you should be good to go!

watches aren't meant to get wet, even a drop of water, unless they are rated for 5,000m

but probably a little over 100m

Welcome back! Haven't really had my Sub or GMT pressure tested, but I haven't gone below 100 ft either. Considering these are meant to go far deeper, I'm never concerned.

O and another thing. Your Seamaster has a variant of a twinlock, it doesn't have a triplock. Case back may be thicker than on the EXII and that'll likely be the failing point at greater depth , not the crown.

If the 100m rating actually holds, even scuba diving it would be very rare to go past 40m as a casual diver. If doing so I wouldn’t be wearing a Rolex either. So surely it’s just fine in a pool

Between the White and this, the Black dial is better looking IMO. Wouldn’t turn down either one though...
