Buy the car. I don’t have any reason that could convince you other than the fact you’ve been looking at this for a while and it’s time to scratch the itch.

It’s a really nice car!

My buddy has a GT350R... Thing hauls absolute ass! A bit lacking in torque down low in the rev range, but with a flat-crank, she winds out!!!

Probably the only mustang I'd be interested in. That or a mid 2000s Terminator :D

Not much of a "rag-top" guy, personally. I like chassis rigidity :)

It's basically "The German Mustang" and I love it. Killed my need for a Mustang. Bought a '23 C8 HTC as a retirement present.

Top down is the ONLY way to go. New Mustang has all the CarPlay and tech madness you can want.

Buy the car. Don't loose out over what amounts to three hotel nights.

Buy the car.

Ha, you guys are such enablers. But I hear you and agree with what you're saying. I've wanted one of these forever but always had a reason why I didn't get one (kids, pulling a boat, etc.). At this point in my life I can actually do this and this is the final generation after all.

I look at it tomorrow after work. Hopefully the numbers all work out and I drive it home. BUT ... if they are way off my trade-in number I am willing to walk. I'm not going to get caught up in everything and agree to a bad deal.

I am very excited to test drive it tomorrow. I've test driven several 24s but never a stick. I can't tell you how excited I am at the possibility of driving a manual car again. I've really missed that, as strange as it sounds. Also, yeah top down is just amazing. I rented a '22 convertible in Florida last month and absolutely loved it. There's just nothing like putting that top down on a beautiful day. I had a Wrangler not too long ago and enjoyed it, but taking the top off was such a PITA. Nothing like just hitting a button and boom you're good to go!

I'll update tomorrow with the results. Wish me luck...

I threw the idea of getting this exact car to my wife just in a different color and an automatic. Well she shot that idea right down because she doesn’t like the way it looks compared to previous generations.
I like everything about it except for the back. She wants to save for a MB SL for her retirement car.

I say if you love this mustang pull the trigger.
I felt the same way at first. Loved the new front end which gives it a more masculine look in my opinion. But wasn't sold on the back. Now that I've seen them in person I actually prefer the new back end, particularly on the convertibles. But the front is a big time improvement. Just makes it look beefier and angrier. You don't really notice it until you see the 650 right next to a 550.

Get the car. Screw the boat. Break Off Another Thousand. What a hemorrhaging of money boat ownership is. My FIL has a sailboat in CT & I have an aneurysm every time I hear that he's done something else to it. It's monopoly money at this point & he's snidely said "you can sell it when I die" which is a bit selfish IMO. That's a rant for another day.

I agree about the manual w/V8. I had a 2022 (I think) Mustang GT convertible. It was not everything that I wanted it to be, but that was my failing, not the car. I picked the wrong color too (yellow) which just looked stupid on that car, especially with the black roof.

Mustang is one of the best bang-for-the-buck cars out there. It's very competent, the drivetrain is excellent, it's comfortable for a "pony car" and has everything you need.

The only two downsides are that for the convertible GT, you have to get a "premium" which adds in leather and a bunch of expensive crap that you don't need, and it's still a Ford. This means that most of the interior is really cheap rental car-level plastic. But hey, it's not priced like an Audi either.

Looks are subjective but I still prefer the last model. I see a lot of the new one down here in SW Florida and I want to like it but it just doesn’t do much for me.

A few more pictures for you. Got it home into the garage safe and sound last night. What a blast this thing is to drive! And OMG have I missed rowing my own gears.

I hear ya. There are aspects of the 550 I prefer over the 650, but as far as the entire package I side with the 650. And I was reluctant at first.

One big improvement is the interior. Much more upscale vs the previous model. And I know the screens aren't for everybody, but the user experience is really good.

I think that yellow looks great, but I know there's no way I could pull it off. The interior on the S650 is a nice step above the S550, but yeah it's not a BMW. I cross shopped the M4 but that's a six figure car! This was <$60K which ain't cheap, but doable.

Well I would still buy one for my wife if she wanted one because I think it does look better in a vert with the top down. I would just buy an automatic cause I’m old.
Use your new car in good health sir.

Congrats, Crabby Patty! Driving a manual is such a nicety in today's world of compact SUVs.
