Stella diamond dial question
The Stella DD diamond dials I’ve seen (or noticed, at least) (other than the string diamond dials) have the “8+2” marker pattern, with baguette markers at 6 and 9.
This blue Stella sigma dial, OTOH, has a pair of round/brilliant cut diamonds at 6 and 9, instead of the baguettes. Is this something Rolex did on some of the Stellas, and I just never happened to notice it before? Could it be just for platinum references? (Would a platinum DD have a sigma dial?) Or … what? . |

Never seen one of these before but I feel like I've seen that arrangement for non-Stella diamond dials.
Maybe these were for the very early Stellas? There's something very '60s looking about that design. I've definitely seen double brilliant markers on late '60s IWCs and Omegas. AP also did it for the older Royal Oaks. Here's an IWC with similar markers: https://www.chrono24.com/iwc/yellow-...id25062851.htm AP: |
