Owned both. Only the 5167a remains.

While I enjoyed admiring the CB's rose gold movement, within a year I tired of the dial and started to think it looked a little childish.

What other watches do you currently own beyond the 5167a?

Rolex 5513 with a nice patina and faded blue insert, ALS 1815 Chrono boutique edition

Sidebar: I'm in my mid-30s, so I'm certainly target demo for the CB, but it just didn't "click" with me, as beautiful as it is

Fair point, but I think I’m willing to take that chance. I have a 5712a and I think the 5167a is just going to pale in comparison (I have tried one on many times), whereas I think the CB will be different enough to compliment it. Guess I won’t know for sure until I get one...

If this was going to be my only watch, then I agree the 5167a would be a better choice, but as part of a 4+ watch rotation, I think the CB is the way to go...

Oh, I think you'll be disappointed with the CB's blue if you have the 5712.

Have you seen a CB in the flesh?

I just can't see any scenario wear I would wear a 5167a in a business casual setting (i.e long sleeved dress shirt and slacks) where I wouldn't rather be wearing my 5712a. (At the moment, I don't feel the same way about the Journe CB, but maybe I'm naive.)

Now, pushing toward the more casual side (shorts, t-shirt), I could definitely see a scenario where I would prefer to wear the 5167 over the 5712, but I have the 114060 and White DaytonaC already in that space so the 5167a would either get less wrist time (than the CB), or it would cause one or both of the Rolexes to get less wrist time.

Adding to this mess is the fact that I prefer the 5164 to the 5167 if I was going to go the Aquanaut route (and the 5164 is 50% more expensive than the CB).

Seems odd to me to get bored with a 3 hand no-date watch. What were you expecting when you bought it?

Something that lived up to the hype? Hard to find nowadays.

If it said “Patek Philippe” on the dial instead of FP Journe, it would have a 10 year waiting list...

5167 or FP Journe Chronometre Bleu?

5167. I’m writing this with mine on. I will never sell this thing again. I sold it once and regretted it so much. Got it again some months ago and couldn’t be happier.

HARD ; I think FPJ CB is more of a watch than 5167, no question.
But 5167 has the branding in the other hand. It also brings rubber to your collection , whether thats good or not depends how you see it.
CB is the only Journe that sells above retail in the market (to my knowledge) so that helps.
I want a say go Journe on this one,

I think it is pretty interesting that the CB could be such a close call with the 5167 in a PP forum. FPJ's styling tends to be polarizing at best (either you hate it or love it), while the Aquanaut seems to be loved by many PP fans.

To me, the CB is more watch than the 5167, but from a practical perspective I would give the edge to the 5167. Clearly the answer to the original problem is to get both - or even better, CB and 5164 (the combo which I will have next month.)

You've had some tough breaks so here's looking at a good one.

FPJCB over the 5167 everyday or any other Patek for that matter. Journe embodies true independence in watch making. I speak as the owner of 5711 blue, 5205g and the 5712r(all of which are amazing). I will gladly deal with service/repair costs just to own it.

Other than Journe embodying true independence, what else about the CB makes you prefer it to the 5167?

Thankfully Neil, it is waiting for me at the Geneva boutique to be picked up, so there won't be another story of disappointment (and I'm sure many are sick of hearing of my bellyaching on my failed search for a 5712/1A).

Can't wait to get your thoughts once you pick it up. Especially considering how much you love your 5164. Should make for a great combo, but also allow you to shed more insight on this very tight race between the Journe CB and 5167...

Should be third week of May, if my travel plans don't get sidelined by work commitments again. Gosh, now I know how it feels to be Arnaud with all these drawn out incomings.

It's not exactly my cup of tea, but I don't see how you'd pick the Patek over the FPJ in this case if you liked the watch. The tantalum....the incredible details/separation on the dial only possible from that many layers of hand polished lacquer.....incredible watch if you like the looks. Only thing I can see Patek has over the watch is it might be more versatile (very debatable) since it has a sporty look that might work for more dressy occasions as well.....I say "might" with serious reservations though.

The amazing blue in the blue dial, tantalum case, beautiful movement, contemporary feel while maintaining traditional aesthetics, flexible wearability in casual and dress situations.
