In this forum we always read the same complaints: "Rolex no longer do tool watches".. well here we have a designed prototype for the UN NAVY, So now it's ugly? .. I think it will be a collection

I love the dial. I can live with the coin edge on the vintage explorer bezel. I can tolerate the crown position. The long lugs and end links are hideous.

Not for me, although I can see it getting a bit of a cult following due to the unique design. I think Rolex and Tudor decided to take some design risks this year since sales are already booming. If you like the P01, all the power to you. Cheers!

I think "swing and a miss" is the nicest thing I can say about this watch.

Sort of reminds me of the Toxic Avenger, where the case melted and the crown is drooping down the side.

Just like all the ugly divers that Tudor made after the ref 79190? You can hardly sell some of those today - about 20 years later.

It's a bit weird but, I kind of like it. No plans to pick one up but I rule nothing out.

I am a little amused when I see buyers put dive (diver style?, adventurer who might get wet?, swamp?) watches on leather straps. I am completely baffled when the actual manufacturer does it.
Still, I could have looked the other way on leather if it had been executed less awkwardly. Tudor has drifted into Stauer territory with this "quirky watch with a sketchy story". Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |

At least it is an interesting piece I guess. I'm gonna have to try it on. But the lug to lug will prob be too big.

The more I look at it the more I like it. It's very different than anything from Rolex and Tutor in ages, and I like the bold move to produce this atypical watch. I'll have to see it in the metal first, but wouldn't completely eliminate this from consideration.

It is attractively, uniquely and impressively ugly, so much so that I am really thinking to get one.

Not for me. I don’t like that they made it. The locking bezel was interesting for its time...the 1960’s. It was surpassed by better tech 50 years ago. I’m not interested in vintage for the sake of vintage. The Black Bay line is popular because its technology is very modern, but it has great, classic looks. The P01 is a gimmick to me.

Seiko sells a lot of reissues of their 60’s watches and they sell out as LImited Editions.
This is not even a reissue of a 60’s watch...it is the Prototype 1 of 4. |
