Actually this is a huge pet peeve of mine and so many other vets I know. Memorial Day is not about those who went. It’s about those who didn’t come back. There’s a huge difference. I agree with Mailman. You don’t take a thread honoring the cherished dead and turn it into a thread about the living. Of course all vets on TRF should post and bond on Memorial Day but I think if you get the idea of the original post we should shine the spotlight on those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and not on ourselves.

100%, Tim. This is a weekend to remember those we've lost.

Thank you Tim for starting the thread about those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so we can enjoy our freedoms
X2. Many confuse Veterans Day with Memorial Day. It’s heard everywhere”“Happy Memorial Day!” It doesn’t make sense, what is there to be “happy” about? It’s a day to take the time to reflect on those who gave ALL, not what’s on Sale.

And a pet peeve of mine is someone who will not smile or be happy this weekend, because they are not supposed to. Why do you think these heroes gave their lives? For us to be happy. I know the difference. So does everyone here, but i will honor those that gave the ultimate sacrifice and still enjoy the life they gave us.

Paul, VTCGuy, got called out for posting a pic of him and his Dad. Nooooo.

No he didn’t. My post has nothing to do with that picture.

This weekend

“Time Will Not Dim The Glory Of Their Deeds”

Always remember. Great quote from the American Aisne - Marne Memorial in Chateau Thierry.
