i saw it in real for the first time when i picked up the 5980R and the 5164R the other day. the owner of the AD showed it to me in its original PP box and i thought at first he wants to sell it to me. i still think he thought about it but then figured that the 5960R and the 5164R are good enough for me this time (our first meeting). it is a wonderful watch!!!! i scolded a friend very recently for spending so much money on it but now i understand. a life-time watch. buy-and-never-sell.

I’m surprise you haven’t gotten one considering the other watches you have gotten.

Maybe you can adopt me with your luck in watch buying :)

Would be stunning in rose gold or yellow gold too, and steel, and ceramic (if PP ever gets there).

I think Patek will produce a 5740R in the next few years and may be a platinum version for the 50th anniversary of Nautilus. I doubt they will produce a steel version. To the best of my knowledge I don't think they have produced a stainless steel perpetual calendar after the unique 1526 they produced in 1949.

Agree about an R. I don’t think a P will follow for 50th, that would be too easy.

5740G is one step up in in exclusivity from what i got. but yeah, still i got lucky this time round. if/when i get the 5980 1R and the AR (back) then i shall be really happy:::))))
anyway, now i also need to wear those buggers...today i found myself walk out of the house happily with my DD40:::)))
we have to sort this adoption thing out sooner or later:::)))

Thanks guys
I loved my day date but I sold it because I couldn’t be bothered getting a half link and the lack of micro adjustment annoyed me.
As for the 5740 if and when they make a P I believe that based on my experience with the 5711P it will be too heavy. The weight of the G is perfect.
