Explorer 2 Polar finally got me

I’ve always liked the Explorer 2 42mm, especially the polar dial. However there has always been a Sub or GMT encouraging me to buy it instead. Over the years the Exp 2 has never got more than an admiring glance.

However a few months ago I pulled the trigger on a mk1 Explorer 1. Whilst I really liked it, I just felt that call towards the Explorer 2 was increasing.

Then with perfect timing, a friend out of the blue had decided to sell his 2012 full set Explorer 2 Polar and within just a few days, the Explorer 1 had gone to make way for this beauty.

It does wear large on my 6.5 inch wrist but I get away with it just I’d say

If anyone is on the fence, I say go for it

Thanks guys.

Although it’s certainly eye catching, it doesn’t have the shine or flashiness of the ceramic bezels of my Sub/GMT but that’s part of the charm.

The White is just lovely and refreshing

The orange GMT hand against the backdrop of the white dial is amazing.

Fell off my radar for a while, but will be my next purchase!

Picked one up (black dial) when it was released a few years back but whilst it sat nicely on my wrist, I always felt it was just slightly too wide. I loved the actual design though and think I maybe flipped it too quickly.........might just give it another try though?

Definitely no issues with wrist size - even on the potentially misleading close ups there’s no overhang so in reality I bet it looks perfect.

Congrats

Congratulations, I really do like this reference!

It’s been itching at me now for a couple of years and I just had one on my wrist again the other night at a gtg. I think I may join you, but can’t decide on black or white

Congrats. Picked one up several days ago and like very much. More than any other that I’ve owned.

With all the difficulties in getting GMTs if any sorts, this is likely to be the next thing that gets onto the unobtainium too?

I’ve always owned black dials so this was a welcome change.

Here in Toronto it’s already on the unobtainable list, inquired about one last week!

Great watch. I absolutely love mine. Most legible watch I've ever had. I also really enjoy playing with the loom against the crisp white dial

Looks great. Was going to get one with the white face myself except I can’t do larger than 40mm. I learned that with the DSSD which I was relieved to move on from because it was ridiculous on me. Hahaha. Congrats.

Yes, the lume looks great on the white dial. I had a white dialed daytona but the lume was so small it wasn't nearly the same.
