I own a Rolex yet I ...

(Let’s revive that thread started by a different TRF member ...couldn’t find original post to give credit...sorry)

*Get more than 50% of my groceries from Aldi (off name “cheaper” brands)
*Drive a car that’s 10 yrs. old (still in great shape; only 86,000 mi. on it)

What say you...?

I chase pennies on the floor. And it makes my day to find a quarter.

That might have something to do with my last name though.

Yet I wear them in daily life doing yard work, home repairs, recreating (skiing, biking, hiking, fishing) and even doing environmental remediation field work at contaminated sites, just like my Seikos, Breitlings, and AP RO. Watches are meant to be worn.

Not sure what's wrong with a 10 yo car? One of mine is 16 now, and it is a keeper.

Its market value is less than most of my watches, but it is a classic, impossible to replace, and it provides more driving fun than 95% of modern garbage out there.

I do my own laundry, dishes, trash disposal, and cleaning. refuse to hire any of it out. "helper" culture in hong kong grossed me out. rather clean up after myself

I still do those things myself too. For whatever reason, I don't feel right employing people "personally."

Realize it's just a watch. Not an achievement.

I own lots of watches and they are merely something I like and enjoy.

How we prioritize our spending is a personal choice that needs no defending.
