Invicta headaches...
I put an ad on facebook and other places advertising that I do repairs, but also buy/sell. I normally get people selling junk and they understand that and go about their business. Today I get someone selling this lovely Invicta(Click for link)
His watch has been worn and I inform him that these are selling on eBay NEW for less than $50. I really wouldn't be interested. He then says, "those are replicas." I then inform him that even on Amazom from INVICTA, they are $74. He still says they are fake and his is real and MSRP for his is $995. Not sure if he's just trying to BS me, or he really believes this thing is worth anywhere near $995. |

If Invicta opened a Dollar Store, the MSRP would be $49.95

I had a TAG-Heuer dealer tell me he wouldn’t take a TAG Calibre 5 Automatic I bought from him new less than a year prior in trade for a new TAG. This is a watch that cost $2800 retail and he expects you to take that garbage from him?

I bought a "insert banned item here" from big 5 back a few years ago. The guy behind the desk was really cocky for some reason the whole time and had a big gold mutant sub Invicta on. I sort of ignored it for the most part but his attitude really changed when I was filling out paperwork with a DD on I wasn't trying to make a point of it but he had a good 5 minutes staring at "the Crown" while I widdeled away at questions about my allegiance to the country and my mental state. I think they even asked me what my favorite color was. I answered yellow GOLD of course! Lol

The Invicta business model seems to involve listing an exorbitant MSRP followed by an actual POS price that is incredibly less than that figure.
This draws in a lot of potential/actual customers who in general terms, feel they are purchasing a watch that bears a striking similarity to the Rolex design. It's probably why the occasional "Is that an Invicta?" query (to someone wearing a Rolex) occurs. The Invicta has acquired a trademark look of its own and some Invicta owners probably see the Rolex as a clone (or homage) to the Invicta line. Pretty ironic, eh? |

Second only to Invicta owners, I think the owners of the current Michael Kors line have inflated their watch's value in their heads.
I am far from a watch snob. I have ONE Rolex and about five Seikos. The Michael Kors watches are re-badged Fossil watches and while there is nothing inherently wrong with a Fossil at it's price point, I can't understand paying three to four times more for the same watch simply because it has someone's name on it.
