HK is the watch capital in Asia. Their market isn't limited to them but the whole of Asia.

If 1% of China's rich buy 1 Rolex each, all of those will be gone in a matter of days.

Majority of them are living in flats and public transportation is one of the most efficient in the world... So nobody really needs a car.

There are more millionaires in HK in USD than in the US in fact there were years that hk even topped number of Millionaires than in Switzerland (based on percent in population).

HK remains to have the most expensive real estate in the world.

The default watch of most HKers are the SS Sub and the SS Daytona. They have this strange attachment to A Series SS Daytonas with Zenith movement some complete sets going as high as 220k hkd.

One store in HK boasts over 1 Billion HKD in inventory. If anyone is in thr hunt for those rare daytonas, colliosone dial PP Worldtimes... they're all in HK.

Caveat: they don't come cheap though. The PP Aquanaut in WG has almost 15k USD premium over SRP.

There are roughly 2 millionaires in the USA for every person living in HK... Do HK locals actually believe this?

You probably didn't understand my post... that's why i said IN PERCENT!

Of course there will be more millionaires in USA due to the fact that HK population is about 7.3 Million and USA is more than 300 Million.

Double chuckle LMFAO.

You can make that a triple chuckle, because you're probably still wrong

After a year-long stock market rally, 5% of Americans are millionaires. I've seen several estimates for what % of HKers are millionaires, and the highest was under 3%

Who cares about the % of rich folks? It's amazing to see all those shiny new Rolexes.

You're probably having some issues with English language my friend.

Of course every year the percent of Millionaires will vary better to double read my post...."there was a time..."

As you have said.... after a year long rally of stock market in the US... Hahahaha

Ok. In both absolute and relative terms, I don't believe that there are more millionaires in HK than there are in the United States.

You tried to draw a line between wealth in HK and the ubiquity of Rolex. I don't think that line exists. Culturally, HK has an emphasis on buying expensive luxury watches. People usually need to prioritize and sacrifice to do so.

In terms of the huge number of dealers, many are primarily catering to mainland Chinese visitors. It's hard to say how many watches are bought by locals vs. visitors

Hong Kong is "Rolex Paradise"

More sold (at least in revenue) in Hong Kong than even the US. It certainly is Rolex heaven.

That

At any rate, this is a great thread showing how Rolex is sold in HK.
Let's have more post like this: Rolex stores in different parts of the world.

Meanwhile, that single window display probably represents the whole stock
here in NZ

Cheers everyone

Tried a few dealers for a 116610LV couldn't find anything.

Found some resellers but they have a $2kUSD premium.

SGP has great prices but like the rest of the world - no stock.

I live in North America. I don’t have the need nor the desire for a car. My rent far exceeds most mortgages in the US yet I still can’t afford to purchase a home in my city. If the cost of a watch was the difference between being able to buy a home or not, I wouldn’t own the watch.

I could move to a cheaper area that doesn’t interest me. I choose not to. Ridicule me. Or be open to others’ realities.

The shops are on Nathan Rd. main rd in Hong Kong, this particular shop was the largest that I came across, it had "ONLY" Rolex and Rows upon Rows of them rough guess 1500 of them!

In Macau there are smaller S/H shops, everywhere!! (every 20th shop)

Macau is gambling capital! (larger than Vegas!)

No shortage of any model.

What surprised me the most was no replicas!

This is another Pix of one in Macau...........

regards Martin

Some people in HK flip their watches fast. The 116610LV used to be flavour of the month, with the ladies too, before the 116710BLNR came along. Now it's the ceramic Daytona...

If you flip sort after Rolexes you don't take a huge hit here, and you are kind of renting them, while building a relationship with the AD.

Did you see many vintage Rolex sports watches for sale in Hong Kong?

...but note that the asking price is HKD84k (USD 10.7k)...and they may well be used.

though that seems like it might be the going rate everywhere these days!!

I'd much prefer to do business in Japan, and that's coming from someone born and raised in Hong Kong for a number of years. Everytime I come back for business or family and swing by ADs it is the snobbiness that turns me away, or the inflated prices. Totally the opposite in Japan, where everyone is welcome and inspecting or trying on watches is common if not implored upon you. Had an excellent experience at Jackroad and numerous other shops at Nagano Broadway last week when I flew to Japan for a quick vacation.

Tldr, if you aren't a foreigner or speak Mandarin or look like you're from the Mainland, be prepared to have a somewhat cold reception. Oh and no discounts generally, none on SS and around 5-10% on PM or less desirable OPs.
