My first Grail - GMT 1675 1.8mil serial no!

Dear all,

Firstly, I would like to thanks Springer and Sensui and others who have responded to my PM regarding the watch's condition and the main reason i pulled the trigger is due to the fairly positive opinions by the forementioned experts. It is due to such unselfish sharing that I am able to purchase my very 1st 4-digits reference.

Since Monday, I have enjoyed every moment of wearing this handsome 1675. It's really a dream come true for me.

I appreciate if you all can care to chip in your opinions about this watch as I am still learning and would like to learn more by your frank views about this watch. Here are the photos;

Once again, thanks everyone!

That looks absolutely gorgeous!!!
Love the Patina on that MK 1, as well as the case.
Great examples of "basic" references such as the 1675 simply don't come around too often anymore.
Wear in best health! :)

Looks like the case might have been refinished by our friends @ LAWW?

Gorgeous example of an MK1.

Case refinished
Service caseback

I wouldn't mind seeing macros of the tritium hr plots.

Lovely addition, enjoy it! and congrats!

Seems like it. Very nice thick case and solid crown guards nevertheless.

Man that looks amazing with better pictures. Great incoming and a keeper for sure. Big congrats...you didn't need my opinion, Springer is the gospel truth with anything regarding gmts IMO. Case is sharp sharp sharp...and just an exquisite dial.

P.S. If you wanted the next step, it'd be an amazing insert like fuschia or early orange fade to match this beauty.

Yup case back is replaced and lume loss on 10,11,12 and 24 minute markers, creating a sense of misalignment. Any areas I should notice?

Really like this piece, but why would a watch get a replacement caseback? If a caseback was replaced is it likely there were other changes (i.e. movement swap)? Or is it usually just for something like a new owner not wanting the engraving that was there? Just curious. Thanks!

The original one could’ve been badly scratched and gouged by some heavy-handed jeweler taking it off and screwing it back on. I had a Sub years ago (not even a very old one) that had a really banged up caseback. It was quite an eyesore.

Great example! The refinish is awesome and you have a gem. Don’t see them much anymore. Congrats!

That's a beauty. And yes, we are lucky to have Springer and Sensui that are so knowledgeable.

Yes indeed we are blessed with selfless people who possess institutional knowledge and so willing to share. It's these kind souls that makes vintage collecting more accessible and ultimately a lifetime passion for most of us!

Just want to revive my 1675 thread as I have finally sourced an appropriate 60s redback insert in faded blue/copper tone insert with all the battle scars befitting my 1675. Took a long time as it's so hard to find a balance of good value and condition. Hope you guys like the new look.
