Really can't decide! DJ41 or GMT II LN?
I currently have a Tag Monaco and Omega Speedy, but im looking for something new so will be moving the Speedy on.
I thought it was time to get something a bit more subtle and understated, yet stunning at the same time.. something to wear at work but also be able to wear when smart casual. I was set on getting the Datejust 41, Black dial, Smooth bezel with Oyster Bracelet. It's a truly beautiful piece, and I think the combination allows it to be more sporty. Then.. I was offered the GMT II LN! And now I'm completely torn. It's just as stunning in a completely different way. Am I just not ready for subtle? Can the GMT be worn to work without being too in your face? Buying both isn't an option (although it was considered!) Lookong for thoughts/advice/pictures to sway me one way or another... |

I'm biased, but firmly believe the GMT is one of the best, most versatile pieces you can get!

I would take a GMT over a DJ any day of the week.

These are two very different watches. I have a GMTc LN and really like it. It wears well is a great travel watch. It is a Sport watch. The DJ to me is a dress watch (although some will disagree). I plan to get one someday and add it to the GMT and an Exp I. But it sounds like you are really looking for a sport watch and not a dress watch. I prefer a dress watch without a black dial. If you are going for a black dial sport watch I would not get a DJ.

I'm not bias, I just don't know a lot about watches. I know what I like and I love the DJ41 you described. I hope I use the correct horological term here to describe it... It's badass and cool! Very clean and still understated.

Choosing between both, go with the GMT then add the DJ41 at a later time
I think the GMT serves the classic, sporty, dressy and casual needs You really can’t go wrong with either, try them on and go with the one that speaks to you. You’ll find yourself going back to get the other one soon after Best of luck |

I own both the DJ41 and the BLNR. Between the 2, it’s the DJ41 for me!

I’m in process of getting the DJ 41 blue ( as I already have 2 GMT’s). I’d get the GMT first, then get the DJ afterwards.

I had the same type of dilemma in reverse. I was set on the GMT LN but then the Exp I called out to me, then finally the DJ41 black smooth bezel with jubilee caught me and I love my choice!! Good luck there’s no wrong choice you may end up with both anyway. I might

GMT. I think it’s fine for the workplace, but DJ probably has the edge in a suit/tie world. But I think the GMT is far better for casual dress.

Your existing watches are more sporty. The DJ41 will round out your collection real nice. I bought the same DJ 41 you are considering two weeks ago. I really like it in my collection. Best of luck.

Personally, the DJ41 jubilee fluted would be a contender. However, the smooth oyster is a no go for me. I would go GMT.

I'd get the GMT now as they are harder to find and will get even more so, if not for you its an easy trade into the DJ41 in the UK.

I too considered the GMT II. Then the stainless DJ41 came out. I bought it and never looked back.
I am almost always dressed up, therefore the less sporty DJ was for me. Sent from my BBB100-1 using Tapatalk |

I have both (although my DJ is two tone) and the GMT I purchased only last week. Such a tough choice and you can’t go wrong with either. I personally think a DJ is better on a jubilee, fluted bezel and TT and because you’re after something casual, I’d go GMT

I’m currently in the same boat, only I’m really drawn to the DJ II with its larger size and sportier looks vs the DJ41. Just when I have my heart set on the DJ II (black dial, smooth bezel) I look at the GMT and its just so cool. Probably end up going GMT.

ha I was sitting in a meeting and looked down and thought, I love this watch, so I stealthily snapped a picture while no one was looking lol. Only answer is to get both Rolexes!
You will keep wanting both till you do. At least i did. If that necessitates selling the rest of your collection then to me it is worth that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

DJ is more under the radar yet still sporty in the config you described. I am biased though.
Having said that a GMT or Explorer would likely be my second |

I would pick the DJ41, but fluted bezel, blue dial & Jubilee bracelet, and 72hrs PR from the 3235 movement.

Talk about split opinion on here! Thanks for all the comments so far. I think I'm leaning towards the DJ41. It's the one I've wanted for a while now, and the GMT is just giving me cold feet (or just being a placeholder for the BLNR that I also want! I think my mind is playing tricks on me with "well you want a BLNR but this is the next best option"). DJ41 first, BLNR later. The Monaco will be easily able to satisfy my casual needs!
