Seiko 6217-8001 Suggestions
Hi Guys,
Few years ago I came across a Seiko 62MAS, I never had the time to dedicate to a proper restoration. I am now in the mood to dedicate some Energies to this project and I would like to Brin it to the deserved level. I am a Rolex GMT Guy, collected many and my research has been quite only dedicated to this models, not so much knowledge about Seiko Vintage Divers. To feed this new passion could you give some advice of what you expert would do to this watch? What should I search to make it stunning?

Clearer pics would help but it looks to be in very nice shape. Not sure I'd do anything much to it, beyond a bit of Polywatch on the crystal. Grubby lume is normal on these.

I would see what the issues are and I would start with the movement. Does the watch work and if so to what extent. The second thing would be the appearance. I would be very careful not to do anything that might remove or alter the worn in look. If the crystal can not be brought back somewhat I would look for an OEM as a replacement and I would have the seals and gaskets replaced when the movement is worked on. I would also find a couple of cool period piece straps and off I would go. Just a start and a suggestion. Some others have much more knowledge and will get specific with you. Good luck and keep us posted. Beautiful watch.

Thank you William, Watch works but a service is anyway planned, I do not have the original buckle, I will search for one.
Regarding the lume I probably leave it like it is now, I am concerning about the straps, his original one would be the tropic one. Do you think I can find one?

I think you an find some very cool straps as there are several makers that produce quality straps for Seiko watches. Do a Google search and you will see what I mean. My AD is a Grand Seiko/Seiko dealer and has a box full of straps and can order straps also. Go by an AD and see what they have that could work well on the watch.

Original Tropics are worn out and brittle by now. Get a replacement one from Uncle Seiko and call it a day.
