Should there be a Dealers Section?

Somewhere we can either laud or shame our dealings with Authorised Dealers?

The reason I ask is that some companies seem to go more than the extra mile in customer-service.

Things like having a repairer on site; Polishing & rate adjustments for free; Fixed price servicing; Parts (outwith servicing) at cost; Willingness to search other dealers inventories or order from factory for that "hard-to-find" watch; Information on what they've been allocated and reserving watches; Free insurance valuations; Simply making you feel like a welcome friend rather than a source of income!!!

Incidentally, my local AD:

http://www.jessopjewellers.com/index.php

Offers all this (and possibly more), doing so for the Rolex I bought from another dealer before I bought from them. For example, new crystal for my 1655 polish and repaint bezel; £50. Additional Oyster Link supplied & fitted; £25. Service (all parts & labour); Currently £225.

They say it's how they keep their customers.

Mike.

Well Mike this is a world wide forum and many dealers all around the world.

There is a "Who'sWho" forum, and in that you can list good and bad experiences you have had with sellers/buyers. It isn't just limited to sales on this forum or the internet.

Now you have mentioned a dealer that you appreciate, but for 99% of the guys around the world, they will not be able to necessarily deal with that seller because of their geographical location.

Also this isn't a commercial forum, so we are not really into promoting one commercial dealer over another. Nevertheless, it is great to hear about your personal experiences.

So in short answer to your question, I would have to say that I don't see the real value to the forum as a community in having a 'Dealers Section'.

The other thing is some guys are going to get great deals from 'a dealer' and other guys might get unsatisfactory deals from the same dealer. What does one then conclude or do, it becomes an argument.

The forum is similarly not inclined to give or have the opportunity to give dealers the ability to self promote on the forum.

If I may join in (and add to what Steve said), not everyone is of the same mindset and has the same experience. For example, another TRFer and I have visited the same ADs. We had completely different experiences. At one AD, I was treated very poorly, while the AD was friendly to him. At another, the manager offered me a nice discount and was very friendly. The other TRFer did not have the same experience.

I think what works best if you need to know where the good ADs are located, PM a TRFer that lives in that area.
