eBay seller GeneralWar/Sant Blanc?

First, thank you in advance for any input.

Secondly, has anyone had any experience in doing business with General War aka Sant Blanc on eBay? They have several watches at what appear to be compellingly great prices, and I am trying to do some due diligence prior to leaping.

Once again, thanks!

GeneralWar is Jon Todd's company, he is a good guy. Not the quickest to call back sometimes, but reasonable and honest.

He is partnered up with Chris Wiley from Watch Chest on eBay also. They run a retail operation and are OK. Some of their listings are "stock" pics, so you need to be real specific about the watch you are buying. Also they tend not to disclose the series letter in the listings and if the watch you are bidding on is not the one pictured then you could be surprised, so again be very specific about the piece.

I have both bought and sold to Jon Todd. He is a straight forward guy--sometimes tough on follow thru--but has nice watches for sure. Make sure you get him to work with you on price as often what he lists for and what his best price is quite different. Also--as stated above --a lot of stock photos or old watches.

Thanks all - that's good info.

For those who have purchased from generalwar / watchchest on ebay - were you able to get more specific info from them? The ebay listings are pretty vague, e.g. "condition - pre-owned", no info on year/serial range, stock photos, etc. I'm guessing you were able to get more specifics from them?

I got my GMTII-C from Jon, no problems whatsoever. He'll answer any questions you may have, his number is in his listings. I recieved probably the most courteous and professional assistance I could have ever hoped for. I would recommend him 100%!!

I've been eyeing a watch from generalwar. Do you think they would accept an offer off ebay so I could get a better deal?

I purchaed a new Submariner 116613 from Jon at the end of October. He spent fifteen minutes each in two separate phone calls to answer all my due diligence questions. He even told me to pay with paypal e-check as that would better protect me - the buyer. The price was very fair.

If you would like to find out more information about Sant Blanc aka Jon Todd, he has a website now. He sells [Link to commercial site removed] on this site at [Link to commercial site removed] and has some information about his history, company, etc. There is also a link to his eBay store there as well. On his eBay Sant Blanc has 100% positive feedback score of 840+ with nothing but great comments. It also shows that he has been with eBay since January of 2000.
As for me, this is enough positive information to make Sant Blanc a positive company in my book. I do know that you can save some money by shopping on his website verses eBay and even more by using the bank wire to pay. I saved about 5% when using this method and got my watch the very next day, better than described.

Sant Blanc

Beware of any purchases with Sant Blanc. They are very unprofessional and do not stick to their word. Also, Jon asked me for my Social Security number, which for me was a HUGE RED FLAG.....
Buyer Beware

Could you elaborate on your very unprofessional experience? Did you take delivery of a watch or did you end the transaction at the social security number request?

I bought my first Rolex from Chris about 3 years ago. The watch came the next day and was in perfect condition. I brought the watch to Rolex in New York the next day and it checked out to be Authentic. The experience was great and I'm thinking about buying another one very soon.
