Restore that vanilla smell on rubber strap of my Oris

I have an Oris with the rubber strap. It was infused with vanilla. I really like that smell. Over the last two years the smell seems to be wearing off.
Does anyone know how to re-infuse the vanilla smell?

That's God's way of telling you to buy a new strap

Right. It’s three years old but based on its rotation in my mix of watches, it only has about two or three months of total wrist time and no wrist time in the summer months.

Soak it in McCormick's Pure Vanilla Extract.

I have a vanilla scented Marathon strap that is still all vanilla-y after at least 4 years.

My mind is being kind of blown now. Are scented watch straps a thing? Why?

If you really want to infuse the scent of something onto something else, maybe mix vanilla extract with some kind of neutral carrier oil (or water?! I'm not a perfume chemist.) & spray it on?

I'd be worried about attracting fruit flies or bees

I’m curious to know what chemical compound they use to mask the smell of the rubber. An enduring (2-4 years) vanilla scent is not natural.

I didn't even know this was a thing. I feel like I was better off not knowing.

Yes, mine is still vanilla – ish. But you really have to get your nose close to the band. It used to be that you could waive your hand in front of your face and be able to smell it. I know, it’s weird. But I like the smell.
I think the other reason a scent is infused is in summer when one sweats, it’s better to smell vanilla than that rubber band soaked in sweat.
