How long of a wait time for DaytonaC?

Hi fellas,

I decided to join the waiting list for a new Daytona Ceramic black dial.

I'm not in any real rush to get it, so when I heard it would be next year at the latest I was fine with that.

My AD said that in reality it would more than likely be this side of Christmas depending on cancelations or surprise allocations.

So how long have TRF DaytonaC owners had to wait for theirs? Also what country did you buy yours in?

There has been a lot posted on this already.
It depends where you are, your relationship with an AD, how many lists you can get on. You can have one tomorrow if you want to pay a premium over list from one of the resellers on TRF.

Yeah I know about the grey market mark ups out there, I'm just not in a rush so I'm specifically talking about ADs.

My AD said it could be a couple of years for me.

Me too! It's a stunner. Did you go for a black or white dial?

In the US, most AD's are not adding to their waiting list, or they're giving the time frame of 4-5 years to discourage you. Good luck in Europe, keep us updated.

based on your location(s) get on a list in spain not the uk. UK its going to be a really long wait. There are tons of people on the waiting list who want the watch as well as tons who don't want the watch but want to flip it. The waitlist in the UK is worse than pretty much any other country.

I waited 1.5 years and just got mine last week. There is some luck involved and if you have great connections with a AD or are willing to pay over list you can get it sooner. Good Luck!

Congratulations to both of you!

That kind of time frame wouldn't really bother me too much. It would probably fly by before you know it.

I'm at about 14 months, name down at a relatively large AD where I'm a relatively small fish. Recent info seems to indicate August or September for me.

I Have seen "randoms"// cold call threads here on TRF with buyers getting their Daytona C 3 month turnarounds without an established relationship. I think YMMV. If you can swing an extra 4k, I suggest going grey, otherwise probably will be a 3-12 month wait.

Well, if you do some hypothetical math.......the watch lists for $12,400 and if you add 7.25% sales tax, the total now is $13,300. This is if your lucky and the AD does not want to charge a premium. I have seen some on TRF going for $15,5K, so you have to pony up an additional $2K at least. So you have to ask yourself is it worth it, do you love the watch and have to have it because you may wait over a year or maybe never get a call from an AD. I do not put much faith in the lists from AD's being called on a first come, first serve basis.

This assumes you pay taxes at point of sale at the AD but not on the grey market. My experience is that most ADs will ship out of state, making the delta between AD and grey larger than your estimate.

You also have to factor in the idea that there hasn't been a price increase on the Daytona in quite a while in the US, and Rolex obviously knows the market will easily absorb it. And the YM2 and Sky Dweller are more expensive SS models than the Daytona. So by the time your number is called, the price tag could easily be higher than $12.4k.

I'm in the US...put my name on the list in March expecting 12 to 18 months. I got the call in 3 months for a white one which is what I ordered. It was bad timing for the two in front of me on the list and they passed. It was bad timing for me too but I bought it anyway and love it.

8-9 months wait got white daytona at New York AD

I love the daytona
So much so that i just put my name down few days ago for black dial too at same AD. I'm being told 4-5 months or so but I'm not in any rush whatsoever. Maybe nice Xmas present to myself :)

Well I must be doing something wrong

2 years wait for the old Daytona

Didn't get one, then went on the new list for latest white dial. Still way down the list.

At this rate it will take 3-4 years.

I buy on impulse so all of my watches have come from different places. Lack of local AD relationship certainly against me

Ps I am aware the U.K. Is certainly a hard market for popular rolexes at the moment .

Unfortunately wait time in the UK are long for just about everything.

I notice your avatar also says Spain, perhaps you'll have better luck there?

I hope you can source one sooner than later.

Just went to one of the ADs here a few days ago..... 3 years and they are not taking any more names.
Not surprising that they also mentioned giving priority to their million dollar customers.

I'm in California, it took me 9 months and I received my black dial Daytona last month. I'm still curious as to how I received one relatively quickly from my AD since I only had one other Rolex purchase from them in the past.

I didn't have to wait for any for my stainless steel Daytonas including the new one with ceramic bezel, basically I just asked for it and got it on the spot. One time I actually turned down stainless steel Daytona at MSRP from the AD.

I'm not super VIP customer, I think I was luckly :)

This is very true math.

The gap between retail with tax and secondary market is getting narrower....

I have seen a white dial Daytona - C for $15k Flat...and not sell.

Also interesting is that the previous model was flying high selling for old retail regardless of age....now they are coming back down to earth around $10K ish and NO SELL...

Market on these is by no means pillowy soft, but there is a bit of a course correction going on....

I got on the list at local AD seven months ago. I was told at the time it would be a couple of years wait. Recently I went in for an update on my progress and was told it was next to impossible to get one... whatever. I am going to research other ADs and refuse to pay over MSRP.

the Daytona C is unique that instead of handing the timepiece to your children they get to inherit the order with an AD
