Need help identifying an insert

Hello all,

Was wondering if I can get some help on identifying this bezel insert. I believe it’s an mk3 but I wanted confirmation.

Thanks you,
Be safe and enjoy your weekend!

100% not mk3.
One of the several MK4 variations. So think of when matte dials went to white gold surround.

Not a MK3 - very early Tall 4, lots of people try to call it a MK3

Look at the shape of the 4. 3.2 is a rounded 4.

I know I am new at this stuff, but strike me left with a feather if I can see any difference. Lots of learning yet to go it seems.

How I was able to tell is the inner part of the 4. The top is a little different than the rest.

Thanks for all the help!

But man I feel like I can just get anything since it’s so hard to tell unless I’m looking up close.

By the way, I believe that particular style of insert (squat “inner” four, serif) might’ve shown up on late 5513s and therefore as service to the other models. Thoughts?

I believe I have sourced a 3.3 (pic 1) for my 6.22 mill 1665, but it came with an mk4(pic 2), I believe it is more mid 80s, but I find conflicting information (your thoughts?)

I wouldn’t say all that fat, but it’s a mk3. You’d find it on a later matte dial 5513, a rail 1665, stuff like that.

thanks
good knowledge

It looks like the 3.1 is noticeably fatter and has a little less serif on the 4 than the 3.3

3.1 I think ----->

lol, the variable nature of the fatness is annoying.
So I broke out the calipers and found that in the fatter mk3's the width of the 5's vertical lines is at least 50% of the width of the 55 marker.

You need a shot from straight above for the best comparison.
Not sure why I did this.

Its ok. Some of us are nerds here and enjoy these things ;) FYI- the font thickness varies for inserts so dont expect all 3.1s etc. to have the same thickness.
