Thoughts on this 16610?
Hi chaps, I passed on the last one I asked you guys to check because there was alot of questionable things with it... But I found another one for you to give me your thoughts on if you don't mind?
Comes with no real paperwork apart from an auction sales receipt from Sotheby's in 2017. Full box, hang tags, anchor and booklet, not sure if it's been serviced 7,500 £ asking price Thank you as ever. Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk |

Definitely been polished
So the original owner kept absolutely everything (tags/instructions/booklets etc) except the actual original papers? That makes me feel like it’s a cobbled together set.... However I don’t mean to be overly critical. Just some observations... |

Quote:
"Full box with 2 wallets all books, calendar, tags." + The Sotheby's paperwork I mean, the tags would have the serial number to match the watch? Unless I am mistaken Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk |

Sotheby’s paperwork means nothing in reality
Can’t see any serial number on the tag. So nothing linking any of the bits to the watch. |

You should contact the seller and find out the service history. If they don't know, assume it needs a full service. That should factor into your offer if you decide to make one. My advice is to look at as many examples as you can so you know what to look out for. In time, you will be giving advice instead of asking!!

Holy crap, that's almost $10k USD! Do they really sell for that much? Polished and with no papers? I'm going to dig mine out and sell it, since it's just something I wear on rare rainy days. Mine is also polished, but it has the original papers at least.

The guy who polishied that watch did not even understand lesson one or was just lazy;
Avoid craters around the holes by closing them up prior touching the wheel. Still not too bad though. No numbers on the tag and no papers = cobbled together set = little value

Agree with the others. If there is nothing tying the extras to the actual watch I would not pay more for them. Treat this as a “watch only” when comparing to other watches in your search. Just my personal opinion, the extras are nice to have but do not add any value for me.

The 16610 are considered vintage?

Sides aren't well polished. Amateur job, not an rsc polish.
Here in canada a clean 16610 is about a 9k-10k watch without serialized papers. A little more with paperwork. About $6900 usd based on today's exchange rate. . |
