Would you do this trade???

I was offered the 5270P in exchange for my white face 5711 and 5711R. I'm very tempted to do it. I love the 5270P, and it's the only way I would get one. Cant see myself paying that much for one piece. But also hesitant, not sure I could get anymore 5711.

Is it from an AD? Is the watch BNIB? What else is in your collection? Trying to get a better sense of your landscape.

If there is a way to keep one Naut along with the 5270p, they really make a perfect pair. With that said, if I could only have one, the 5270p wins hands down.

Nope. The 5270p is slowly going down in value unfortunately as there isn't a huge demand for dress watches (especially grand comps) in comparison to sports. I would keep both the steel & rose 11's. You have mentioned it anyway, you probably will never get one back at retail without paying a premium. Or you could possibly trade the 11r and some cash and get a 5270g white or blue dial white gold.

The 5270P is Brand new. My 5711 white is also never worn. The 5711R is in my rotation.
I have a few Nautilus watches. I tried to offer a 5726/1A instead of the 5711R. He didn't bite.

I have 4 Nautilus
5711 White Face
5711R
5976
5726

Agreed. It is hard to understand the softness of such fine dress watches. I would never trade the sport watches you have for a 5270. I would rather see you buy the 5270 as an additional piece. You should wait until you are able to do that. You may see the prices lower in the future on the 5270P.

I will bet my house you will see prices lower in the future on the 5711 and 5711R.

I agree with you but will you be able to buy them at retail within a reasonable time is the question. Selling the pieces now without being able to replace them in the future except in the aftermarket would be my concern.

I understand that all too well but the OP has a nice mix of nautilus even after this trade.

Assuming the OP paid retail he would be into a 5270P for around 80k. That has a nice ring to it for me but then again I am a big fan of the 5270.

Yes, Both were from a boutique. I only buy from the used/grey market for watches that dont hold their value (Urwerk, UL freak). Since they came with big discounts. I can't get myself to pay over retail.

I would do it. You have one of the best Nautilus, the 5976, and that with the 5270 would be an awesome Patek duo.

Nope imo can’t look at it that way- matters not what op paid- what are they worth today? The white 5711 would sell easily for 55 and the 5711 R for 110 so He is paying today $165 for the 5270. It is a gorgeous piece but I own both of the other 2 and I couldn’t do it. Guess you have to decide how you would wear the 5270- it is a fine fine dress watch. You would find it very difficult to replace the other two.just my thoughts.

I wouldn’t. I’d tire quickly of the hand winding PCC. I’ve tried to live with one twice and it just didn’t go with my lifestyle. YMMV

But then that 5270 is drop dead gorgeous- Very tough decision :-(. Well if you do it, make sure they include the cuff links that come with it :-) then send us lots of pics :-)

In the same way that you don’t see paying that much for 1 piece, there is a lot of people that think like you. Specially now that we are living a sport watch market. The dress watch market is small and as you go up in price is even smaller.
In other words I rather keep your sport watches

I am a sports watch guy and I would do this in a heartbeat. You’d be paying $85k for a $190k watch (msrp), you have another nautilus, and the 5270p is THE watch that may make you forget about the rest of your collection (or mine). Seriously, don’t get caught up in the nautilus bubble hype - this May be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

you have one of the kings of the Nautilus in the 5976...so I would definitely do it for one of the kings of the grand complications...the 5270 is fine mechanically engineeried artistry.

p.s. I've never seen live pics of the 5976...would love if you could share some...heck even pics of the cork box would be fun.

My only complaint with the 5270P is the Arabic numerals instead of the rectangular bars in prior 5270's. :( It throws of the symmetry forced by the asymmetry of the split dial.

It is what holds me back.

That said, this sounds like a bargain of a trade.

Honestly I think those figures are a high on the 5711s. They certainly aren’t trade figures that’s for sure and OP is getting a trade.

I’d probably keep the 5711 white myself but if it needs to go it goes!
