Best Second Watch?
I currently own a 114060 which has been my daily driver. I am interested in picking up a second watch. Right now I am looking at a DJ41, I think it could be a nice contrast from a sports watch. What do you all think? What would be a great second watch to own?

Yeah I think a Datejust would be a perfect companion to a 114060. It’ll give you some things that the Sub doesn’t - polished center links (or jubilee) and date, no rotating bezel, for example. Perfect pair.

Same here. Currently wearing an 114060. Also looking for a second watch. Couldn’t decide. It has been 6 years already.

I have a 126710 BLNR and went with a DJ41 to contrast the sports watch. I love the DJ41. I purchased it to wear when I'm suited up but I find myself wearing it casually.

That was my second watch too after having a 90s sub most of my life. Got a DJ41 with fluted bezel and jubilee in January. Then spiraled from there’s got a BLNR jubillee in June because I liked the bracelet so much. Then got 116500 white Daytona ceramic 2 weeks ago. Careful you’ll probably get hooked!

Pick the one with date since your sub doesn't have the date cyclops

I bought a 116610LN 2 months ago and have considered this question as well. I think I’m between a BLRO or a Blue DJ with Roman numerals...but I’m trying to pace myself and hold off for a few years. Decisions decisions!

I have traded in so many watches over the last 2 years. I am telling you this is the 100% way to go. The blue is addicting. The jubilee is a perfect complement to the oyster. You add
the date. The fluted bezel sparkles. Amazing combo! Not to mention you now own 2 of Rolex’s most iconic watches.

A DJ41 will fit you both well. Dressier, versatile, and its still a Rolex with a completely different look than a Sub Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Its hard to argue against a DJ, fluted, Jubilee. Unless you just want another sports model. Daytonas are hard to come by. Personally I'd go for a DJ or DD depending on your budget. IMHO your second piece should a different dial, bezel, and bracelet for maximum versatility.

The only other datejust I would mention is the TT with champagne dial. That would really change it up. But I would recommend blue.

1. Sub (Diver)
2. Speedy (Chrono) 3. GMT Those are 3 most common functions |

Rolex: DateJust
Non-Rolex: for sport Sinn EZM (whichever model fits your needs) For non sport a JLC Master (whichever model fits your needs) my preference would be the new master memovox |

I'm considering a GO, SeaQ . . . looks nice and prices seem reasonable for used.

A Sub and a DJ makes a very classic combo- this is true. But if you extrapolate the "everyone and their brother has a SS Sub" to two watches, you get a Sub and a DJ. Certainly very versatile, practical collection, but a bit vanilla, as well. Not saying that as a good or bad thing necessarily- just adding some color for thought.

So I have the 16610 but I paired it with the Speedmaster in hesalite which is an absolute strap monster and is really easy to change up the look especially if you buy some quick release leather straps. It actually makes it a little more fun.
I think a perfect hattrick would be the Sub, Speedie and a DJ41 though. |
