The antidote to the endless bundling/grey market/it’s all a conspiracy thread

Ugh.. I stumbled on yet another of Paul Thorpes rants on YouTube about how awful Rolex is.

Couple that with the huge amount of threads about it being impossible to buy Rolex sports models and that it must be corrupt AD’s.

I figured a thread with stories of no bundling, good experiences and positivity wouldn’t go amiss.

So I’ll start. 4 watches bought over three years. No previous history. Only jewellery purchased was my wedding ring.

1 - GMT Master 2
2 - Explorer 1
3 - Black Bay 58 Blue
4 - Submariner

My first visit to local AD this weekend and walked out with a TT Sea Dweller.

Could you say where you are located as well, that could be a big factor.

I got a BLNR early this year from an AD without prior purchase history and a wait of only a couple months. I’ve subsequently purchased jewelry for my wife and hope to buy more watches in the future. My SA has been nothing but honest with me and I enjoy swinging by to speak with him.

Like anything in life, treat others the way you’d want to be treated and good things will happen.

Since mid 2019 from my AD I have got:
TT Sky-Dweller
SD43
Blnr
White gold oyster flex daytona
Explorer 1

Also was offered a TT Sea dweller but turned it down as I was happy with my SS.

Bought wedding rings for myself and my wife.

every watch in my signature was purchased from one AD save one - so you could say that i now have a fairly deep history with him.

that wasn’t the case in the beginning. he had a hulk in the case that i bought at the conclusion of our first conversation, and i followed in order thereafter. he has never let me down but i have had to be patient. nothing else has been purchased save two watches (an autavia reissue and a cartier for one of my many exes).

Share your wonderful ADs and help all the strugglers here out.

Should have a thread just for them. I’ve heard about people wanting to name and shame ADs, what about a thread to name and praise eh?

After all the first may expose one to legal action but certainly not the latter.

Once you've got your "Pepsi and Daytona" or John Mayer or whatever hot models you desire it sure seems harmless to make the 3rd party intro.

Doesn’t always work like that. I’ve told a few people how great my AD is. They went and mentioned my name. That led to a stern talking by the owner. He told me I can’t send him people who only want SS professionals, he already has too many people hounding him for them. He told me to keep it to myself as telling others creates expectations and entitlement he can’t fulfill.

You have to give them the chat first. If my friends did that I'd bop them over the head with a rubber chicken.

They didn’t need to mention your name did they?
