To keep or trade my Jumbo?

I’ve been tossing around the idea of trading my Jumbo for a new Rolex Pepsi 126710BLRO + 16610LV, but the Jumbo keeps on increasing in value. When is it going to stop?

What would you do?

That’s a tough choice. I would probably hold onto the jumbo. But those are two beautiful Rolex sport watches so I can see how it’s tempting.

i made the tough choice of letting mine go a few months back to make room for other pieces.
don't regret it by any means cuz I'm very much enjoying the new additions - however, i wouldn't mind having it return someday in the future.

Keep the jumbo and add a Rolex is my vote, if you can swing that.

Hell no man! I’d keep the 202 any day. I don’t really care about value (though I suspect you’ll be just fine).

Yes yes yes

The Pepsi is a great watch with an updated movment unique and cool bracelet.

The 16610lv is a fairly collectible watch.

The 202is wonderful but didn’t last long in my collection.

Real question is are you wearing the AP?

No I don’t really wear the AP except for the rare occasion. I’m leaving heavy on the trade side.

Do you think the 2 for 1 is a fair straight up trade?

Is the 202 getting any wrist time? If no, do the trade.

Interesting proposition though.

1st. question is do you want both of those watches?

2nd thing would be condition and completeness of all mwatches.

3rd. Is the overall value and what is important to you,
getting the peak value that the AP is trading at vs the peak values that the VL and BLRO are trading at... or msrp vs msrp for all though the LV is the most solid value of the bunch imho

That’s what o would consider.

For what it’s worth, both of the rolex are all purpose everyday wears and likely to continue to be desirable when the economy & market shift occurs.

I had to sell mine because of a divorce situation. Of the billion or so sales-trades-flips, it’s by far my biggest regret.

What I’m trying to say, is I vote no.

202 is the direct descendant of Genta's classic and his chief work by his own admission. It's hard to get and running up in price. But if you don't wear it much, I'd get what you will wear more often unless you are more a collector than wearer of watches.

Assuming you got the 15202 at list, it’ll probably easier to get the rolexes at list by being patient than to get the 15202 again if you regret letting it go.

Would go with keeping the 15202 and adding either of the rolexes.

Jumbo is a keeper; I suspect AP will bump up its price another 10-12% next year too, so it will be even harder and more expensive to buy it back if you decide to do so in the future.

Thinking about the same, but likely move my ceramic diver instead of the jumbo

Add to that the scarcity of the 15202ST... if he regretted the trade and decided to buy one again.

I did a quick search on Chrono24:
126710BLRO : 237 pieces
116610LV : 361 pieces

15202ST: 65

I'd keep the Jumbo, save up and buy the Hulk first then the Pepsi.

The hulk is not part of the trade.
The OP is considering the Kermit 16610LV.
190 offers on C24 though relatively this may be the ballpark, the offers in all cases are likely multiple for the same watch.

Practically speaking, the OP “doesn’t really wear the AP except for the rare occasion” and has not given any indication he intends to go into the watch trading and investment business... he has a watch he doesn’t wear worth more than he payed for it and an offer of two extremely wearable and sought after watches from a brand that has a more broad appeal for resale if needed and holds up significantly better to wear and tear.

The AP while special in so many ways, has issues of concern with WR, performance , date setting and most importantly if actually worn looks like it was working on the rock pile in a few weeks. This might be fine for continued ownership but is a nonstarter for private resale and would have to go in trade where full value will not be realized.

Imho of course.

Don't trade it away. I sold mine after acquiring my CB and 5712. Almost instantly regretted it, and the CB is no longer in my collection. I am pining to get one back - hopefully the call comes soon!

I sold my 15202ST. Gave it a lot of thought and honestly the hype of ownership and all the threads about how classic it is made me doubt it so much. I happily got rid of it and kept my 15202OR and added 15305st recently. If you are a 39mm guy, will wear it and want an AP in the box, then I’d give it real thought. If you have other 39mm APs, then I’d dump the Steel jumbo.

I wouldn't do it... the 15202st is my favourite watch at any price point.

Could not agree more with this post. Very well said.

Furthermore, the madness will correct at the next economic downturn.......none of these pieces are going to continue to go up indefinitely.
If the OP isn't wearing his 15202, use this inflated valuation that currently exists to get 2 great pieces that will actually be worn.

I really like the RO, but I really really like being able to wear my watches w/o worrying about babying them, and that's hard to do with the 15202, which is what's keeping me from going after one as my 3rd AP.

If I had the two Rolexes mentioned, I’d happily trade trade them for the 15202st, so...

As it happens, I had the BLNR when I put the deposit down to get on the waitlist for the Jumbo. I could have kept the BLNR, but was never crazy about the boxy maxi-case and the big slab side. So I let it go, no regrets...
